Test Track - scary?

Can TT be scary for kids? Trying to figure out if we should include it in our Epcot day. DD will be 6. She loves rides and roller coasters, but I don't know if this might be a bit too scary for her? I did watch a YouTube video of it, but I just can't tell from the video?

No scary elements in my opinion, only thrilling. The potentially "scary" part is probably going 65mph with the top down through a high-bank turn. But if your kid is into thrills, she might eat it up.

If she can handle mild roller coasters, she will be fine on TT. Only one real way to find out though, take her on it and see how she does.

My kids love it and they have been going on since they were tall enough. None of us think it's scary - it's more thrilling like someone also mentioned. It's a whole lot of fun. Since your DD likes bigger rides, I don't think you will have any problem at all!

Thanks, trying to decide if we want to try to RD it, or skip it altogether. We'll do Soarin' for our Tier 1 FP

My almost 6 year old hated it. It was too fast for him. He did love the designing of the car part though.

This is my concern. DD likes roller coasters, but then again she's never been on one that goes 60 MPH. To date she's done some of the 'big kid' roller coasters in kids areas of amusement parks. She hasn't been big enough to do the larger roller coasters, so she's never done them - I don't have anything to compare to there.

FWIW she's not a 'cars' kid so I'm not sure if it would be a big deal if we skipped it altogether, but I'm sure DH would like it.

The 60 mph part only lasts a few seconds though - not the entire ride.

What we did was tell our son that we drive faster than this on the highway. Sometimes, a lot. Once he realized this, it was no big deal.

Another thing that might help, is tell her when the outside part is coming up to put her hands up in the air and scream like crazy. It will take many kids minds off of what is actually going on and most kids love any chance to scream.

When the car drives through the T-Rex's mouth, (the first time--just before the 120 foot drop--not the second time, just after the corkscrew loop), it can be a bit frightening.

If she loves rides and roller coasters you should try it. My DD is not much of a thrill ride kid. At age 3, the loved TT the first time she rode it. She decided she hated it at age 4 and 5 (we coerced her onto it with promises of things like Mickey Head Ice Cream bars). About age 6, she decided she loved it again, and has stayed that way through age 7 and 8. It is tame compared to roller coasters.

I think it's borderline for 6 yos in general. Some will love it, some will think it's too fast. The inside part has a lot of jolts too, and it's in the dark. If she likes roller coasters, she will probably be totally fine on it.

No, it is not scary at all!
I suppose the inside is kind of dark, but not in-the-dark kind of dark. It looks like Tron. They use black paint on the ceiling to improve the effect of the neon road stripes. (kind of like those old black-light glow posters).

The worst thing I'd say is that parts of it are loud. But that's true for most of WDW.

No need to take them to Weenie Hut Jr., it's time to step up to the Salty Spittoon. Disney rides are designed for the entire family. Our daughter rode and loved it as soon as she was tall enough to ride. There's nothing scarey about it.

If she loves rollercoasters she will love TT. Seriously.

My niece cried after the first time she rode it at 6. Not because it was scary but because she thought it wasn't long enough!

My nephew who hates all rollercoasters with an undying passion loved TT at 5. There's no big dips or drops, just speed. Being in a car-type vehicle lessens the fear too I think.

I have seen kids come off of Tower of Terror crying. I've seen them come off of Space Mountain, Rock n Roller Coaster and Expedition Everest shaken up and unhappy. I have yet to see a kid come off of Test Track with anything but smiles. I've ridden many, many times (I'd say 50 plus) - I'm sure there is the occasional kid that doesn't like it, but the odds are very long that a child who likes coasters would be one of them...

Watch a video of it on you tube. For the vast majority of six year olds I'd say it wouldn't be "scary". Definitely not scary in the same way that a thrill ride is scary. But a few bumps, turns, and that fast part at the end which is like riding in a convertable on a race track. Depending on the sensitivity of any particular child, I can see some things about the ride that could be scary due to a combination of the visuals and the movement.
