Is Test Track appropriate for a 8yr. old boy? Just curious how fast and scary the ride is...he loves Space Mountain now and is becoming more bold about going on rides...still won't go on Rock n Roller Coaster since it goes upside down, but wants to try Test Track for the 1st time this year...THanks!

the ride goes no faster then a car on a freeway. it just seems like you go faster because you are not enclosed all around. He should be just fine :D

We took DS 6 on test track and he loved it except when the "train" almost hit us. That really scared him. But then we did it again right away and he enjoyed it. When DS was 7 we took him on the rollercoaster at DL and he hated it until we were through the loop and then he loved it and did it again 2 more times. RnRRC is really fast and dark so I'm not sure he will even know he goes upside down. Test track is very mild with the exception of the fast part you see from the outside. Have Fun!

My 5-yr old DD has been going on it for 2 years now. This is much less intense than a roller coaster (in fact, it's just a bit lame, IMHO.)

No worries! This should be a real pleasure for your 8-yr-old!

No problem. He'll probably love it and want to do it again and again. The perfect "Thrill Ride" for the younger set!

I am such a chicken that another poster and I have started talk of a "wimp tour" that would visit all the "safe" rides at WDW for us wimps. Even I love Test Track. It's silly fun and that last minute is a real hoot with the wind in your face so fast. Nothing terrible here. If your little guy can do roller coasters he will do fine on this. Let him watch it while you wait in line -- you can see the cars "whoosh" by.

Test Track and Rock n Rollercoaster are my son's favourite rides - he is now 9. Been doing them both since he was tall enough and loves both.

However, you have to bear in mind that my DH is a black cab driver in London and if my son can cope with his driving, Test Track is a breeze!!!

DD rode it at 4 1/2 and loved it. DNi who was 9 and is afraid of anything that even looks like a roller coaster actually rode it 2X

My son rode it for the first time at 4 years old.. its really nothing more than riding fast in a car, with some sudden moves.

Its sort of boring compared to other things, but to some it is high thrills. Again, my son is a thrill ride nut, at 54 inches can't wait to go on the highest fastest coaster there is!

When DS was 8 it was and still is at 10 his favorite ride. It is tame compaired to SM which DS also loves. It happens to be one of my favorites too. You all should enjoy it.

If you do, may I join you? :teeth:

And even *I* can do Test Track. :)

My DD just turned 6, and it is one of her favorite things! She loves it!!

We had no idea she was such a daredevil, but this child put her little arms up in the air on both Test Track and Splash Mountain! I would suspect it would make the day of an 8 year old boy!

I am a ride wimp but love this ride... the going fast is just thrilling for me as long as there are no drops I am there.. I am sure he will be fine.. :)

Delighted to hear so many of you enjoy Test Track.

Your youngster will enjoy it so much my guess is he'll want to ride again when he gets off. I find that's what usually happens when they are a little hesitant before the ride. I try to take the time to explain the ride to youngsters who haven't been on it before and many come around the front again for a second ride.

The top- speed is 64.8 MPH during the speed test although it will feel faster. Kids love it.

Have a great time.

My kids, DD & DS have ridden Test Track since they were old enough to reach the height requirement ( even though they got on their tip toes). They love this ride, we ride it 3 or 4 times every time we go to Epcot. We usually do PS seating at one of the Epcot restaurants 4 other nights on our trip and the kids insist on riding it at least once.

My DD's (8 & 6) have been going on it for years. They love it!! It is really a lot of fun.

I LOVE this ride!!!! One of my favorites at WDW. I think your son will do just fine.
