Test Track is great, but....

WM used to be DS favorite ride when he was little. To get him on some of the more scary rides we used to bribe him by promising to take him back on WM. It was never a problem for us, as we always enjoyed it also.
DS used to call it the "man in the mud" ride.Ahhh, memories

This is my favorite topic to write about on these boards. I think I could easily write a research paper on this topic. The people who enjoy rides such as the ones previously mentioned can do at least one thing to stop their demise - ride these kinds of rides on every trip. There are a lot of people who only ride the thrill rides at the parks - no shows, parades, dark rides or souvenir shops. They just keep getting into the lines for the thrill rides over and over. I've read about this numerous times on the Trip Reports Board. For example, people are going to MGM & riding ToT & RnRC all day. Because these lines are so long it gives the impression that these are the favorite rides of the public. However, they don't take into consideration that there are people in line for these rides for the fifth time that day.
How many times have you not gone on rides like Jungle Cruise because your friends, kids or grandkids don't like it? Then you end up sitting on a bench in front of Space Mountain while they ride it 3 times. THRILL RIDE WIMPS UNITE!!
Ride the rides you like & ride them often. Every time you get in line for a ride it's like a vote for that type of ride.

:goodvibes Thanks for the tip. I hadn't thought of it this way. I'll be chanting this over and over on our trip this Sept..... THRILL RIDE WIMPS UNITE, THRILL RIDE WIMPS UNITE, THRILL RIDE WIMPS UNITE

That is a really good notion...I never thought of it that way. I wouldn't say I'm a whimp as far as thrill rides go...I love a good roller coaster. However, I just don't think there should be a focus on these at Disney parks. It wasn't like this 10 years ago. I REALLY think the drop in attendance that occured after Sept 11th scared Disney into thinking that they had to really fill that thrill ride hole in order to bolster attendance and keep up with the competition. I just don't understand why Disney Managment can't stop for one second to think that even if they are lagging behind in the UGLY loop da loop / tubular track roller coaster area that their main strength lies within the layout, beauty, cleanliness, and creativity that creates the magic in the first place. They need to stop trying to be the same as everyone else and keep concentrating on their uniqueness. That's what continues to bring people back to Disney in the first place. Heck, every major city in America has a Six Flags type park to get their thrills at. You know it doesn't even make sense to me as a whole because every thrill ride Disney has created as of lately, with the exception of RockandRoller Coaster, is dumbed down to an unextreme level...they are all "disney-fied." So, why bother with concentrating so hard on this junk in the first place?...bring back the well-scripted journeys filled with audio animatronics and then throw in a nice drop at the end for your thrill. Splash Mountain is the perfect example of what the new Disney attraction should be all about. It adheres to the imaginative and unique experience we've come to love at Disney parks while throwing in the thrill that people seem to be seeking time and time again. A perfect balance. Man, I love that ride.
