Test Track is great, but....

And The Submarine.. That was so Disney and was always the first thing we had to do when we hit MK...
I used to love this ride, but due to such high cost of upkeep, among other reasons, it was closed down. Does anyone know what they are going to put in there??

So now Im getting all nostalgic for all the old disney music from these rides and others.. Are there cd's or websites where we can get this music?

Pirates life and all that.. THe OLD 80's epcot park entrance music? That was great stuff.. Anybody?

and the video for world of motion :)

You wanna know something sad? I never got to ride WOM or Horizons. I was never crazy about riding WOM, but I think I cried when I learned Horizons closed. I wish I could have had the honor of being able to ride it. It sounded wonderful. :sad2:

Thanks for the links to the websites.....man, does that bring back such good memories!! Those were awesome rides. My mother and brother are not "thrill" riders and that's why Epcot was always our favorite park. They enjoyed them so much!!! It was a shame to see them go. :confused3

Whenever Radio Buena Vista plays music from WoM, I stop whatever I'm doing....sorry boss...and listen. Gosh, I reall miss it.... :sad2:

How do you get that radio station, through the pc? Do you have a link??

I just found one with no pop ups. .A winamp shoutcast.. I have been listening to it for the last 2 hours.. It rocks.. Its like Im right in parks.. Music, ridethroughs, sounds, and all sorts of good things...

Whats better? You can request stuff from his playlists and see exactly what is coming up!

ITS AWESOME! I love this kind of thing.

Amen...I really hate the whole Thrill ride replacements. Horizons and WOM along with Spaceship Earth were/are my all time favs at Epcot. The dark rides set Disney apart from every other theme park in the world. Rather than a short "thrill" I prefer the inspriation of looking at where we were, where we are now, and where we might be going. Walt embraced these concepts....creativity and imagination were cited as our tools to inspire thoughts of what life may bring.

I think Test Track is an awful attraction. Although it is a well done attraction, it puts off a nasty vibe over there in the back of future world.....it's noisy and just throws off the entire feel of the park. Epcot was always knows for being a peaceful experience.

WOW WOW WOW....thank you soooo much for the links to the video footage of Horizons and the like. Man, that brings back some of the best memories of WDW I can muster up. I remember being young and riding Horizons over and over right around closing time.

*Clapping hands*

Very well said and I agree completely :)

Walt embraced and expressed those concepts in Disneyworld as well as in other places (as well as outright stating them in interviews, etc). And those concepts are a huge part of what Disneyworld means to many people and what makes Disneyworld, Disneyworld. So its sad to see them (and the rides that reflected them) being taken away in favor of relatively mindless thrill rides.

Having not had the pleasure of meeting Walt Disney, I can not say for sure what all his intentions are or how he would respond to the current state of affairs. But it seems to me and many others that there really are many common themes in his creations that I would imagine he would want to have continued in his parks. (I'm pretty sure Carousel of Progress was one of his favorite creations). It will be very unfortunate if the parks - that were built by him and continue using his very name - continue taking away his many heartfelt themes in favor of themeless rides. The very kind of rides that occupied amusment parks in his day and disaffected him so much that they caused him to want to create his style of theme park to begin with!

So yeah, yet another rant by me about this subject :p

And once again, CrazyJ4488 and many others in this thread (and board), it's good to hear there are more that feel the same way :)

Yeah, they've got to stop worrying about the competition and the wild ride niche those entities fit into. Disney should remain proud of the fact that they have a unique product to offer over all those other parks. To me, that's what makes Disney. They have always been unique and they have always set the bar as far as creating a special experience that can appeal to everyone deep down. Don't get me wrong...the world as a whole is an amazing creation that stands high above the rest. However, their attractions are starting to fall behind.

For the love of everything that is good in this world....they've got to stop tossing up those god awful dressed up carnival rides a'la alladin's magic carpet. I don't care how themed they are...the cheap nature of them still shines through the fiberglass shells and fancy paint jobs. Anyone with half a brain can see right though that junk and that's exactly the type of thing Disney wanted to avoid. Furthermore, think of this....instead of putting in a thrill ride simulator at the new space pavillion in Epcot, they should have kept Walt in mind and created an attraction that gives us a look at what space travel could mean for our lives and our future. For instance, think of the budding space tourism industry....an attraction that features how that may become common place would have fit the previous mold that made EPCOT such a great place in the first place. Also, how about the prospect of exploring Mars and discovering new things about our universe?! Man oh man, that portion in the rear of Future World just carries a feeling and spurs emotions that tips the scales towards dull and uninspired thinking. WOM and Horizons fit perfectly together back there...they inspired and fit the rest of the attractions at Epcot...these new ones just don't.

Go out and buy the Disneyland Treasures DVD disc called Tommorowland. You will then see and feel exactly the inspiration that Walt intended to create with his attractions. What an awesome feature on that 2 disc set....incredible stuff. Epcot had a good start...I'm just afraid they are running the wrong race now.

Annnnd plez take down that awful wand looming over spaceship earth like a corporate buffoon. Nothing has cheapened WDW quite like that thing. UGH.

Pardon my rant.

Wow! I didnt know this existed....i'm gonna check that out! Thank you VERY much for letting me know about it :)

Did you happen to see the Incredibles movie? I really loved it...for many reasons. One of the reasons is the message in the movie to rise above common mediocrity and be the best that you can be. That theme is what Walt Disney seemed to build his parks around...but it seems that some of the new rides (not all) don't follow that ideal. Walt didnt like the generic, themeless amusement park.

I love Disneyworld, i still think its the best park out there and will be for a long time. And it's certainly my absolute favorite place to be. But there have been things done that dishearten me. I love the concepts it stood for and i love the fact that it was unique...i just hope it stays that way.

And I hope it continues serving frozen lemonade...just because :)

First, it's all about the DOLE WHIP....OMG I could die thinking about that stuff...drool.

The Disneyland Treasures Tomorrowland 2 disc DVD set is some of THE BEST money you will ever spend on Disney related media...trust me. It's got it all...I don't watch much Disney media anymore but this release just floored me. I wish Tomorrowland and EPCOT still made me feel like I feel when I watch these things.

I'm sorry did someone say DOLE WHIP? That is my Pavlov Bell! I am sitting here actually salivating! OOOppss there goes some drool on the keyboard!

Walt who? :sad2:

I always thought it was a shame that, with the exception of Roy, no one in the family has taken a leading role in the Disney organization. Surely, a family member who new and loved Walt would take care to see that his concept was perpetuated and not drowned out!

I grew up thinking of Walt as a TV Grandpop. It made me nauseous to see Eisner doing the intros to shows on The Disney Channel as if he could EVER fill those shoes! How dare he even attempt to!

Sorry, I hope I didn't offend any Eisner fans. :guilty:

Yup, Eisner has made a total mess of Walt's dream for us....I hope things change for the better now that he is outta there.

Oh yeah....DOLE WHIP DOLE WHIP DOLE WHIP ;) At least Eisner didn't yank that stand out, put up a cheap carnival ride / SLOW roller coaster in its place and blanket the parks with retarded annoying advertising for it all. Sheesh....die Stitch DIE.

I like test track, but hate the wait times!! even fast pass can be 30 minutes or so!!

Last week we saw a 3 hour wait time, I could never wait that long for this ride!

Yup, it's a slow loading, low vehicle count, nightmare. Oh how I miss The World of Motion.
