We will be there for RD and have to do both! Which is the better option to FP and which is better at RD? Basically Im asking at RD which ride will have a shorter wait time?

I would rope drop TT and FP Soarin'. Then after you use or allow your Tier 2s to expire, use the app and see which one is still available for FP #4. Both have been showing availability "day of" because most are booking FEA.

is it ever possible to RD TT and then head right over to soarin' and get on without too much wait with the third theater open?

People are reporting shorter waits for Soarin' now so it's worth a try! :)

Is Disney always operating the 3rd theater?
I think so? i'm just wondering if you have a half hour before the queue really starts to back up. Soarin' is my child's favorite attraction and we have two RD opportunities at Epcot. For one we are going right to Soarin' and planning to try to ride it once or even twice and maybe even fit in the land before a 10am garden grill breakfast and will try to FP FEA early on, however we are planning to leave Epcot by 2 so that might not be possible and it might just be a good day to FP TT if I can't get FEA.

the other day we are spending all day at epcot so will try to FP FEA, and RD Soarin' again if we don't have TT FP+ or RD TT and then head over to Soarin'. But ideally I'd like to FP FEA on both days, RD Soarin' on one day and RD TT the other and hit Soarin' right after. Or maybe SDFP Soarin' on the day that we are there all day. Just trying to sort out those details right now of how to fit everything in. Single mom with 8 year old son so single rider line won't work on TT.
