test Part 9

Morning all :)

Our snow started overnight -- we're supposed to get anywhere from 8-20 inches (nice range, eh? :thumbsup2 ) by tomorrow morning.

With all the snow the Northern states have seen this past month it's really not helping the global warming cause;)

Lee said Nico is really getting better and better. Now Julie wants to start lessons. I can't decide what would be better for her. She has been in dance for a while, so I think she would actually do very well ice skating, but at the same time, I would like to see her try a team sport.

I have a little while to decide, right now, ballet will go through May when she has her recital. I'm going to try to get her into classes through the summer.

I'm really hoping the dance teacher at the preschool will let Sammie start dance next fall. She will be almost two months shy of the cutoff, but she LOVES ballet and dress up. I never thought I would have a really girly girl, but Sam is starting to show that more and more. Everyday she wants to wear her Tink costume from last Halloween. When she watches Julie dance, she is right there trying to dance with her.

It's really neat to watch their personalities starting to come through.

Sorry about the mommy rant. LOL!

Good morning....Tony, is it raining down your way? You can blame my SIL/BIL, they are down there and every time they go someplace, the weather goes haywire..:)

We got a dusting of snow, our mess is supposed to be later today/tonight...yuck.....

Have a good day, mac careful getting to work...gotta run and get my buggy warmed up for the commute.

We are supposed to get rain most of the day here...hasn't started yet....:confused3

morning all!

It snowed quite a bit last night....we probably got atleast 10 inches. School is called off for the day. I was hoping to have no kids today but 2 of the showed up:mad: I am still waiting to see if one more shows up...i may just have the 2 today.

The furnace guy is here right now....who knows what he will tell me....the furnace worked fine all night last night....funny how that works isn't it. It works fine after you call them to come:confused3

Morning!

Yet another snow day today (only about 2 inches so far; but ice storms & 8-1/2 (not 8, not 9:rotfl: )inches are supposed to arrive today.

Bob - feel free to keep it all the snow in Cleveland:rolleyes1

tvt - looks like more storms heading your way too, yuck.

ed - where's our red carpet report? I missed it - wah; i like Joan Rivers:guilty:

mic - i'll try to vere the storm northward so it misses you. Let that new SUV earn it's chops! As I recall from my one winter trip down to DC, lots of 'snowflakes' as in panic'd driving when it snows. Think lots of the DC'ers never drove in it before they moved for jobs? Hope you've got smoooth sailing home from work today.

where did yesterday go:confused3 , must of been than 41 min.:cool1: on the treadmill (of course I'll probably gain a pound or two for my trouble lol).

Fed family hot roast beef sandmiches, I finished off my 'applebee's...i figured out why i liked the chicken so, it's nearly identical to something they used to offer @ Reb Lobster - wonder if they're owned by the same parent company? DS, mini gourmand hated his overdone steak. As I told him if you're man enough to order, you're man enough to send it back. Note that he ate every bite though;) .

mac - i ate authentic mexican food once...not my thang - but i do like their beer & tequila.

pam - congrats, wish DH would diet with me; sure would make things easier. He has a fantastic metabolism, eats candy bars & Pepsi (sorry) all day, then big dinner & junk food the rest of the night. His cholest. is way better than mine too.:confused3 How's the new ride handle? I've only seen it in a 'burnt-orange/brownish" color; what did you get?

ocm - i'll eat out nearly anywhere, long as I don't have to cook; i'm happy.:yay: Used to be when my kids where young if they didn't haven't chicken strips on the menu it was off limits.

deena - have you been to SW weekend before? we've got a change to hit the afternoon of our 1st day in June. Our APs are dead, was just going to get base tix & do pm EMH MK. Now I'm not sure what to do, hate to miss out (dh & ds big fans, did get pics with darth & storm troopers last trip). more decisions, nutz.

Yes we have been twice before. We went as soon as school was out here. We went to MGM during the week and did all the rides then we went over one of the SWW days and just did Star Wars stuff. Evan got to do the Jedi training 2 times. Both times he fought Darth Maul. We met Darth Vader and got pics with him, Stormtroopers, luke and leia, Chewbacca and an Ewok. Oh and Jedi Mickey. It was a lot of fun but I wouldnt go to that park during SWW if I wasnt a fan, lol. It tends to get a little crowded.

that's okay, i won't hold it against ya....i drank a pepsi product this weekend too:)

Dave got this:

http://www.chevrolet.com/hhr/colors

his is summit white....he didn't have a choice.

The furnace guy left....he said it was my sensor so her fixed it and went on his way.

My mom is leaving there in a few hours to head this way. The said once they hit Richmond, it's pretty much all rain, but getting there is going to be a little tricky.;)

They should be here sometime tomorrow.:thumbsup2

Oldest DS just called me, scheduled to be interviewed tonight on ESPN radio (national feed) after 8:00 p.m. ...that's my boy:thumbsup2 (excuse a proud mamma's bragging lol). If you're really bored;) , tune in...wonder if he'll give me a shout-out?:rotfl:

thanks deena, will have to toss that one around; my youngest will be 14, imagine that's a mite too old for the jedi academy (but he'd be there in a flash if they'd have him -wonder if there's an age limit?)

ocm - enjoy your company

pam - how did i miss the furnace issues? that's some really scary stuff, I've got hot water heat/gas with original boiler (hanging on my a thread:wizard: ). We priced out a new one & 2 different contractors told me it would be cheaper to install duct work & go with forced air.:confused3 plan on keeping my head stuck in the sand on that one.:guilty:

off to make chicken soup for starving son, already had bacon, eggs & a bisquit (only up 1 hour; where do kids put it?).

have a great day.

Nice car pam!!

Keisha that is wicked cool about the ESPN thing. I shall try to tune in!:thumbsup2 I'll find out in about 3 hours if i will be enjoying company. My mom said if the roads are bad, they'll turn around.

Mic how are the roads that way? I know they closed the DC schools early.

Deena was right about the crowds that weekend. If Nico knew who those characters were, I would be more inclined to stick around for it, but there was not one dinning place available the Friday we were suppose to go there, at any restaurant, lunch or dinner. It's probably easier for people that aren't pushing strollers.

Mac hope you have a great time teaching.

my kid & dh are such SW nerds they'd be crushed if they weren't picked for the academy:rotfl: , probably better off just heading to MK (and our ADR @ Crystal Palace...i need a Tigger fix:banana: .

ocm - hope your mom has smooth sailing to your house, is she driving straight thru?

DS made the mistake of saying he was bored; took us an hour to shovel out:cool2: ...and it just keeps coming. Snow plow managed to sock in car parked on street & drive way too - 2 points:rolleyes1

need free & accurate medical advice...i've believe i've got a stye in my eye:mad: , on my bottom eye lid. Other than sucking it up, what does one do for this, irritating; skipped the make-up today. Such a baby, don't think i've ever had one before; nor anyone in my family.:confused3

I havent had one but I believe the dr gives you some antibiotic ointment.

i've been hiding from him:guilty: way overdue for a checkup...never lost that 20 pds.:rolleyes1

we're mighty close to a foot of snow here, don't plan on leaving home if at all possible.

keep putting a hot, wet wash cloth on it; feels soothing....look like a hag.

ks--that is cool to hear about your ds!!! Hope he makes mom proud:thumbsup2

this is what i found about a stye:

A stye, a red, irritated, tender, swollen bump in the corner or hair follicle of the eyelid, is caused by an infection of the glands at the edge of the eyelid. The same staph bacteria that lives on the skin and causes skin infection causes styes.

Although most styes go away on their own within a few days, you can apply hot compresses 4 times daily for 15 minutes at a time to soothe the stye and possibly help it resolve more quickly. Sometimes, antibiotic ointments or drops are necessary. If the infection spreads, a health care provider may need to surgically lance or drain the area, or s/he may prescribe systemic (oral) antibiotics.

If you are susceptible to developing styes, you might try cleaning your eyelid with a clean, warm cloth a couple times a day, in an effort to avoid developing another stye. Try not to touch or rub your eye during the day, because you may spread the infection within that eyelid. Although styes are not generally considered to be likely to spread to your other eye or to be contagious between people, careful, frequent handwashing with soap will help prevent the spread of infection.

ocm--i hope that your mom arrives safe!!

It finally stopped snowing here...now it is suppose to be really cold for a few days then at the end of the week it will get into the 40's!! gotta love Nebraska weather:rolleyes:

keisha, i have taken 2 of my boys to star war weekends before.
once the 11 year old got into the jedi academy.

we also won in the millionaire show when it was on the sw weekend and all questions were about star wars.

go, we've done it and loved it.

also, use warm compresses for the stye. do what pam said.

home from school.....had to shovel to get the car in the drive way.
the drifts in my drive are 4 feet tall in places.
getting up to 40 mph winds later tonight and more snow.
yuck.

took longer than ususal to drive the one mile from school to home.

only had one jerk today in class.

Hi all...sorry for not getting back to chat earlier, but I was busy at work, then it started sleeting and everyone was getting antsy about leaving...we finally left about 3:45...my ride wasn't too bad, the roads were slushy, I did not slide, but took my time too. It has stopped for now, so not sure what will happen later on.....I would like tomorrow off..:) but it depends on what happens during the night. I would think if your Mom got on the road and started, she should be ok Momma on her way south. As I said, around here, the roads were pretty clear. The snow itself just covered the ground, that darn freezing rain that started is what finally covered the parking lot at work and got us a free pass to leave.

We ladies also got a red rose today from the boss for Valentine's Day :cutie:

Oh, I like Dave's new wheels, pretty cute. I saw a red one at the dealership where I bought my new buggy...Coke is making sure employees look spiffy on the road.

Oh dear KS, a stye, they hurt like hades...you are doing the right thing with the hot compress. Just make sure it doesn't get worse though, you may need an antibiotic...take care!! You don't look like a hag...geez...:goodvibes How cool is that your son is gonna be on ESPN...you are the mother of a celeb:banana:

Mac, I saw pics of Chicago on the Weather Channel, you guys are getting the snow also...is there school out your way tomorrow? Pam, got cabin fever yet??

So, my hair appt. I've been waiting on for almost 3 weeks is cancelled, ok is this the ONLY night it could snow???????? Cheese and crackers, I need a trim and color, I'm way over due.........:scared1:

Momma, that is cute that Sammie loves her ballet so much..they are so cute at that age.

Pam, glad furnace issues were small.....always nice to be pleasantly surprised instead of having a bomb dropped on you...are you toasty now?
