Hey guys!

I used up all my time down here reading and catching up so i am not on here long!
We went to pick up my laptop yesterday and guess what? still not done...they now told me mon. or tues. hmmmm.....think they forgot about it...starting to get very po'ed!!!

Hope you all have a great monday.
We are heading to noah christmas concert tonight!

mic - another story of crappy customer service, you should write a letter to the store, referencing the employee's name. I'd think that in an instance such as this, she shouldn't be making the final decision for the store, unless she's the owner or general manager. I hate to hear this type of thing, hope it doesn't suck the magic out of the season for you.

mac - sounds like you're making some progress w/the folks, hope all is well soon. Nope, no puppies on my doorstep yet. DS wanted me to take his car for a test drive, I declined, happy to be the passenger, vroom. It's got a strange set up, something to do with an automatic or you can flick a switch & it's a standard-type shift...I dunno. Just give me a car where you adjust the seat & mirrors, turn the key & your off...just about all i can handle.

bob - there's something about a guy in a tux:cool1: , was checking out the ones @ JCPenny, they're on sale this week. quality is just ok though. wonder where they sell reasonably priced tuxes, men's warehouse maybe?

pam - hope you're soon back with us.:thumbsup2

deena - sounds like a pretty long show for the kiddies to sit through.

miz - always wondered how they make those towel animals. When we were @ the BW they had a big contest & you could vote for your fav. that the staff had made. some were really elaborate. A few weeks ago on eBay they had a Carnival cruise line book for sale re how-to make towel sculputures.

gant - coffee sounds good now, think I'll have a carmel latte. Unfortunately, just instant, never know what you can find in a can lol).

ocm - i do like the positive spin you put on things, it's a talent girlfriend.

pam so glad to hear from you even if it was for a short sentence.

doesn't that really po you off when that happens.....
i'd get a gift certificate out of them for your wasted time you have spent trying to get your lap top back.

yes i would !!

Evening friends........WOW...I was so busy at work today, had no time to come visit or play :guilty: but the day went by quick.

Mac, hope today finds your parents safe and sound...as I said before, what an ordeal for them, poor dears. My MIL is doing much better, she got some kind of shot in her arm and it seems to have helped. I spoke with my Mom yesterday and the good news is it looks like no surgery will be needed. Dr. did tell her though it was a terrible break (which I think has somewhat to do with her age and brittle bones etc.), but it is coming along. Still painful for her and she can't do much, but they have forced her to take physical therapy to keep everything in moving condition. Thanks for asking.

Jules, again, I'm thrilled for you. Gotta keep us posted on all the news and updates about the big move south!!

KS, wow, that saga with the laptop is worse than my jewelry deal. Glad you got them to cave though. I hate when they tell you one thing on the phone and then another in person. I finally got ahold of the store manager, and explained the situation, and also told him that I was more angry over the fact that the sales person had a more "I'm right you're totally wrong" attitude and made me feel as if I was a liar. He asked a few more questions and then asked if I had the receipt, which of course I do, and told me to come in and get the jewelry replaced. I figure it will be ordear when I go in, and I'll have to seek a manager, but at least they said they would make it right. KS, do you have Bon-Ton stores up your way? Our's has a lot of retired, older ladies that work in there, and this lady was just that. So I would think she would understand customer service as opposed to a young girl. Really, I think she should have said "I'm going to call the manager in on this one", instead of giving me her funkarse attitude. I told DH, it was more the principal of the thing because of her 'tude and that I was gonna get my way or else :goodvibes I used to hate people like me when I worked retail...LOL...although I never found fault with people that had legitimate gripes, it was those trying to work the system that bugged me.

Gant, glad you dropped by and brought your Bunns along :goodvibes

Momma, you tease Tony too much :teeth:

Mac, my tree got put up today, but I won't get to decorate it til the end of the week. DH is now working 4 10 hr. days with Monday's off...so he gets a three day weekend every week :furious: AND....we were told today that we are being given Tuesday the 26th off  I have 2 days left of leave, so I may try and take the next 2 Monday's off...she won't let me carry them over to next year, so I gotta use them or lose them...these are 2 of the 6 days she gave me, then tried to take them back several weeks ago  caught her in that one and by golly, I'm making sure I take those last 2 days. I just hate I can't use them towards a trip someplace, but whatever......it will be nice to have a couple extra free days before Christmas.

Pam, I would be mad about the computer too...it would be like cutting off my arm to be without mine for any length of time...I'd be nuts for sure. Tell Aubrey I'm thinking of her!!

Deena, is Connor doing better?

Ok, need to clean up the kitchen........

mic - you are absolutely serene in dealing with the load dumped in your lap today, you've got alot of patience...you should bottle it & sell it on eBay.

Glad it all worked out, it all became clear when you mentioned the store's name. We do have a BonTon in the extended area, the clerks remind me of old-time school marms. Didn't think a store's staff could get much snootier than our area Talbots.

I'm hooked on Boscov's, the whole experience...lots of different merchandise all under the same roof. The staff falls over themselves, forgot how good their service was; just wish I didn't have to drive 30 miles to shop there. I've been throwing money @ Macy's lately too.

Poor MIL, those old bones do heal slowly. does she suffer from osteoarthritis too?

mac - have you been @ work thru this whole ordeal? hope stuff settles down your way & it stays 60 & sunny the rest of the winter.:sunny:

keisha, still trying to call red cross for more info as today i have not been able to reach my parents at all.

next monday i will drive down there. i'll stay in the shelter with them.

just hoping the pipes in the house don't freeze as then i would not be able to do much but look for temp housing for them.

it's always something , eh.....

right now i am trying to hold my own with my mexican son.
he bought a plane ticket and leaves early thursday.

this is not good.

i have turned down work today and will also turn down work the next two weeks. this week will be shot getting things organized for son and next week for the parents and picking up college son for next thursday.

shopping for christmas ain't gonna happen until dec 23 rd this year.

Well he must still be not 100% yet since he is still having bouts of crabbiness. Hopefully that will pass soon.

BRRRRRRR.....IT'S COLD!!!!

If I wasn't already up I would stay in bed this morning....... :guilty:

37 degrees :confused3 its 25 degrees here.... :lmao: let's jump back in under the covers.

gotta go.......will answer and chat about earlier posts after I get to work!!

luv ya guys, have a happy Tuesday  :moped:

Gooood morning!

Cold in the mother land, poor Ed! a brisk 19 here today, brrrr. Youngest DS now has to wear a shirt & tie for away basketball games, today he's participating in a mock trial & took his new sportcoat, dashing:) . I like to see my guys dressed up every now & again. The older 2 are used to it, since they had to for parochial school. Youngest just starting to appreciate it. Now, if i could only get my DH on board.

Every year I swear I'm going to wrap the presents as I buys them (ha!). Started yesterday, quit after 2 hours. Strategy is to leave the wrapping paper on DR table, so I can't avoid it...wonder if I'll cave?

I know mac's snowed under with life, how's it going for the rest of you elves?

I've heard Men's Warehouse does sell good quality tuxes, but I got mine actually from American Commodore. They have a once a year sale (they're new, not the rentals) and they had great prices. It was cheaper than renting a tux two or three times. :thumbsup2

We've got an inch or so of snow here today. East of us, they're getting buried in lake-effect snow (upwards of a foot or more).

Thanks bob, that's what I'm beginning to realize. Have to pay for 3 for the upcoming nuptials, eeeek. FDIL insists that they rent the shoes too (gross, reminds me of a bowling alley).

Fashion Police Q: In real life situations/non wedding, is it considered manadatory to wear the patent leather shoes or can a pair of dress (non-wing-tip type) be appropriate?

Will check out the local tux places, never thought of it since the tuxes were ordered in a one-stop bridal place.

Good morning everyone. I hope all is well. Just a quickie this morning. Have a great day.

With a tux, I would wear a nice pair of my own wing tips. I don't know if another type of dress shoe would look right with a tux, however. The only time I'd wear the rented plether shoes is if I was a groomsman and they were really concerned about looking alike (it's also the one time I'd rent a tux, since mine might not necessarily look like what they chose). :)

gant - I'm droooooooling on the keyboard:thumbsup2, might have to stop @ Starbucks today...

ed - thanks, wasn't sure about the wing tips, I just buy a pair of those. DH as a pair of black italian loafers (my DSs call them his gigalo shoes) think we'll set them on the shelf. DH is psuedo-father of the groom, was puzzled as to why he had to wear an identical tux but, don't want to rock the boat. He's been in several weddings over the years but, is a steelworker & is most comfortable in a pair of metatarsal boots.;)

If the guy is hot enough, no one will be looking at his shoes :smokin:

KS--I have brag a little :teeth: I have done so good this year. Got my tree up Thanksgiving weekend. Boys put the stuff on it (of course only on the bottom half but its still on!) And I have most of my presents wrapped! This is a first for me. Im usually last minute.

Its pretty chilly here. When I checked the temps in my car this morning it didnt even have a number on it, it just said ICE. LOL. My poor car is wondering why the heck its so cold. Its used to hot.

I'm here and I'm back!! :sunny:

Morning to Bob, Momma and Gant for stopping in...I had some sort of a hot caramel cider thingy from Starbucks when DIL was with me, she is big on S. coffee, so we stopped.......well, Saturday while out, I decided to stop and get myself a treat, another one of those delicious ciders......yeah right...the line was out the frickin door to get waited on :furious: so no treat for me...gotta love those coffee drinkers :joker:

KS....
Every year I swear I'm going to wrap the presents as I buys them (ha!).
ME TOO...and it never happens :rotfl: Yes, I believe the Bon-Ton mostly hires retiree's and older gals...it tends to me a store that has an older clientele, but sometimes I can find what I want in there and they have good coupons......so anyhoot, I'll be going to get my necklass/earrings back! Teach that biddie to cop a 'tude with me :sunny:

KS, I have one of those "steelworker" types of husband also. He hates to dress up, which for him means slacks and a sweater. He prefers his old comfy clothes.....it is always an ordeal when we go anywhere that he has to spiff up a bit...he is like "what am I going to wear"? um, I don't know, go look at your 2 pair of good slacks and 2 nice sweaters and pick a pair :joker:

Deena, grumpy is not so good, but better than sore ear I guess. To this day, my eardrum doesn't hurt, but it will ring sometimes and drive me nuts. Hope his heals timely. I bet the thought of Santa coming will help him recover!!

Mac, glad you are keeping your parents safe and sound. I know how you are feeling :grouphug:

good morning test buddies.

reached the red cross after 9 last night. and did talk to my mom.
she has been moved to a different side room in the building to a hospital bed with a nurse in the room. she is not doing well at the shelter, either is dad.
dad is in a cot still. red cross now has a wheelchair for my mom. she was not able to bring much from home when they went to the first shelter.

the power company states they hope to have power in their area up by thursday. when it happens, it happens.

it's out of my hands. I've turned it over to God.

christmas, aw, where do i begin.
getting things ready for son and it is overwhelming. trying to replace his stolen debit card still, trying to replace his lapstop which was also stolen prior.......get his contact lenses, some more meds, that type of stuff.

i have to have the tree up by midnight wednesday so he can see it when we walk out the door a few hours after that.

no cards done, no shopping done, and i am not feeling guilty about any of it.
those things no longer matter to me.

don't fret, i will go out and do my secret santa shopping and send it out.
i'm not going to neglect that to a homie. just the shopping for the familiy here will wait until after christmas.

will be back later. i sound pretty pathetic right now and don't want to be a downer.
i'll come back with a smile later.
