I just re-called the 2 POs in my area that "do" the passports (of course, both are 10 miles RT from my one-horse town)...

both said i had to make an appointment with the one person who does the processing (special hours during the day)...

maybe it's just local policy:confused3

they confirm both parents need to be there & suggest that we download the form prior to "speed things up"? My friend says to hurry up before the new 'chips' are embedded in card...identity/security issues as in anyone with a scanner can pick up personal info:headache:

btw, that beach sure looks nice to me.

Bob, that sand looks just fine, I'll even put up with it getting in my swimsuit:goodvibes

I agree KS, do your best and the rest follows with the kids...both mine are good kids (adult kids...;) ) so I did something right, not that they can't still on demand push a Mom button:rolleyes1

Pam, keep that snow out there...you and mac love it so:rotfl2: It's been flurrying all day, not a flake sticking to anything...and the sun is out...getting windy though, and tomorrow is supposed to be cold....brr

Bob - I hope your grandmother has a quick recovery. Glad to hear we are all going away. I need another vacation already.

Pam - no word on my laptop yet. I'm still on the kids computer. I think this house will be a lot less quiet once I get that back.

Keisha - in all fairness to Nico, he is one of the better behaved kids in the class. I asked the teacher yesterday (after I wrote that pre trip report) and she sent that note home to every parent. Not that Nico wasn't one of the kids acting up one of the days, but that every kids had been the past few weeks.

Ed - I am glad Kindergarten sign up went well. I just signed up Sammie for preschool again next year. Julie will go to all day preK. I can't believe she will be going all day, but it will be good for her. Sounds cold up there. It will be 58 here on Sunday..I hate it when it gets cold like that.

Gant - I hope you have a great time in New Orleans. I agree with the others, you can't jsut plan trips like that without inviting the rest of us.

Mac - I didn't forget it was Nakkie Day. It was just too cold here to participate.

Mic - that is crazy weather you are having up there. Nico was watching the weather channel and he was saying that he wished he was in DC so he could play in the snow. I explained I was happy with the 51 degrees it was going to be today.

1) celebrating? Is that what you call what they are doing?

2) I believe that IS in fact a guy!:3dglasses

We are off to noah's pinewood derby later on tonight....hope his car does good!:thumbsup2 Aubrey is racing one tonight too...it got 2nd in open class last year~ we will see how good it does this year.

Thanks Mac -- that's what I thought. Although I thought it was like 6-8 weeks before the passports came back (which was why we needed to do it now, since we're vacationing in April).

in illinois, no appointment is necesssary for doing the passport processing.

i took my son for his and it was in the late summer early sept.

we were told it is only a delay in processing passports when it is close to a holiday.
we got his in 9 business days.

bob, do your passport papers now so you will have them in time.
the papers say 30 days might be the wait period if you are doing it right before a holiday. but, the postal employee told us he has never seen that type of delay before.

Evening, got a couple minutes before throwing something together for dh's supper......I'm eating mine as I sit here and visit

Oh Pam, those are bizarre implants:rotfl2:

Momma, assure Nico that the snow didn't lay on the ground, just blew all around, so none to play in...maybe that will make him feel better. Yes, Pam, it is windy, AS IN WEATHER.......:goodvibes

how come i run into all the government red tape:confused: ? lol

the postmaster told me to expect 2 months from date of submission (due to everyone trying to get onboard before the chips go into the passports or just new requirements). Of course, I still need to get the photos taken;)

ocm - send Nico to my house, we've got 4 or 5 inches of fluffy goodness (not a kid outside sled riding, too darn cold). The snow crunches when you step on it! Outdoor weather station sez it's 2 degrees & the wind is really starting to kick up:scared1: . Poor DH out driving the big rigs in this crap.

pam - each of my kids won the pinewood derby in cub scouts (they got trophies :woohoo: , still have them on display in place of honor). They didn't do so well in the rain gutter regatta, not enough hot air to send them on their way I suppose...

Good Luck to Noah & Aubrey:car:

How did the derby go Pam? let us know....

It is so frickin' cold, I'm off to get under the covers and watch a little TV before I fall asleep...which won't be long:sad2: I can't stay awake much in the evenings anymore...getting old I guess........

wow the day is almost over and i haven't done squat today.

it would be lovely just to go to bed and wake up when it is spring......

snow sucks big time.

Noah got 3rd in his den and 9th in his pack. There were some fast cars there tonight....one of the fastest times were 2.83 seconds!

Aubrey got 12th in open class and Trent got 13th. I'm not sure how many cars were entered but i do know they didn't get last.

I'm off to see if i can watch grey's on the computer since we forgot to tape it tonight:confused3

I probably won't be around much tomorrow as I have lots on my plate tomorrow.

Have a great weekend everyone!

congrats to your kids pam!!

good luck with aubrey's eye appointment tomorrow.

everyone here will be thinking of you
