glad everyone had a great weekend....school shopping, glad that is in my past life...LOL...school starts here today already...my kids for the most part never went back til after Labor Day...this seems early to me...

it is nice here too, only about 60 degrees, but sun is out...

Adam, I am sorry school shopping is so expensive. I am not there yet and my kids are young enough that when people ask what to get them for their b-days I can say clothes DH always asks why Maternity clothes are so expensive. You know you are only going to wear them for 9 months!


Mac - YES! There have been times I have wanted to tell someone else to be mommy for the day. But 99% of the time my kids are pretty easy.

ed, you could take up being a tour guide....I've been to your state so many times and just LOVE it...can I say I LOVE it!!!! Mt. Washington area is one of my favorite spots to visit..although everytime we go, its overcast and can't see the top of the darn thing! No I never been, I've been invited out and from what I've seen they would have lots of room for me and family the house is huge. I see them about once every few years when he is visiting my Cousin down on Cape Cod.

well gang i am at the library again.............one of my sons is on the computer at home and i didn't want to wait until he got off. the library is only 6 blocks from my house so i went for it.

ED; how do you get to travel so much? do you get a lot of time off work? you use frequent flyer miles?

i am fortunate. my husband works and i do teaching part time as a substitute for the last some years. i have a handicapped son and i can no longer work a full time job. lots of doctor appointments all the time. go once a week for one. have an appointment today this afternoon for him.
i started teaching grade school about a few years out of college. then when i was needed at home, i went on a sub list. i am certified k thru junior college. the last two years i started on the sub list for the high school. before that i concentrated on the middle school grades. no sub likes that age range and i needed the $ so i did jr. high for sometime.
i am risking it in a way for my oct trip. first time i will be away for a long time. got my fingers crossed.

i would love to travel like i used to years ago.

do you think something medically happened to froggy? has he posted anywhere else?

mac, you are such an admirable person, you work so hard between your family and part-time work....good luck at Dr's today with your son...if you don't mind my asking, how old are your sons?

Froggy has been not heard/seen at all...I have no idea what is up...I don't think anyone else does either...not sure....

I've got my date picked for the "labor day" extravaganza!!!

The kiddoes won't quit pecking on my shouldar today with a million questions, etc...so I'm going to have to give up posting for a bit....sheesh...you'd think I was supposed to be watching them...LOL....

I worked for a travel agency just before and after I got married, I went alot of places for Fam Trips (short for familiarisation(sp?) trip) others I won at Company Outings.

with all that knowledge ED, do you remember all of it and the tricks to get the best prices?

i used to use a travel agent but switched to doing it all myself on the internet. my last trip in april to hawaii i used a t.a. and was happy, then i went home and started to do some numbers on different web sites and found i could save $400 by doing it myself.
i cancelled the package with the t.a. and booked it all myself.

i thought that the agent would know more than i would and she was using the skyblue program only for the agencies.i came out ahead by booking myself.

Wow Ed! That is amazing. Did you like working for the travel agency?

mac - my mom says that too. It is much cheaper for her to book her own trips than to use a travel agent.

I did like it but the pay wasn't great,but the perks were nice.
I worked for a wholesaler they sell the packages to the TA's. Now with the internet it easy for people to book there own travel and the companies dont have to pay commision to TA's. The Airlines were just starting to cut the commisions when I got out of it .

It is nice that you got to travel so much. I know that travel agents can get some great deals!! Tickets to the Philippines for 5 people is so expensive. But we really need to get back there soon.
