Hey Mac!

Joshua's car passed inspection and the pinewood derby runs today at 2pm. Some of those parents frighten me. I think they take this thing a little too seriously. I mean, it is a homemade wooden car rolling down an aluminum chute. Some folks showed up with their car hidden in a shoe box and refused to reveal it to anyone other than the judges. I heard one guy say he didn't want anyone making last minute modifications based on his design. WTH???

tricia, we went thru the scout period in our house also.

i still remember the pinewood derby races.

my kids' cars really looked like a kid made them........
even if i did help them... one of my boys just had his car as the block of rectangular wood with wheels on it..

we had the sympathy from everyone.


i'm crossing everything i have and wish that joshua wins the pinewood derby race.
you know he's got the best car there!

don't forget to give me a head's up when the race is over.

No trophy here.

There was one car that was the original rectangle of wood on wheels, but they had painted it to look like a bus.

Joshua's car did not race well. His claim to fame is that his is the only car that lost a wheel.

I have learned that:
aerodynamics count more than weight
weight matters some
cars with an acrylic finish do better than flat paint
AND, most importantly:
some parents take this stuff waaaay too seriously
