Morning everyone!

I lived in Dayon, Boston, Philly and DC (in the states) before moving here. So far, the weather in GA is by far the best.

Although, it didnt help that I was looking at UD during the blizzard of '96. We got stuck on the highway for that one. And I was at the UPenn in some other insane storm.

I've never lived anywhere else. I was born in Atlanta, raised in the suburbs, moved around the metro area, then finally way up here in the boonies... but my home has always been in Georgia somewhere.

how close do sweets and tricia live near each other?

this will spare me of looking at a map...

My sister used to live in Lawrenceville. It took a little over an hour to drive there. Not far at all, by my standards.

I google mapped it. It says they are 53.2 miles apart. Tricia is North and a little East of her according to it.

Yeah, and Lori, did you hear that was another thumbs up for the weather down here? So, when are you moving... :rolleyes1

:wave2: Hey all :)

Back in town yesterday afternoon. Good trip, lots of fun, tons of good (and bad) golf. Not much drinking (for me at least ;) ) since I was battling some sort of stomach bug during most of the trip. :scared:

Bob - glad you had a great time. Hope you are feeling better now

Tricia - at least you have family in the area.

Pam - yes I meant those headlights

Keisha - Ice storms are not fun at all. Stay safe

Kurt - thanks for the fruit this morning:lovestruc

Mac - have fun teaching today. Which grade do you have?

Mic - I don't buy as much from the Disney store as I used to either.

Ed - I agree with Mac..don't say it. We don't need to lose any more.

Hey all.... I ain't lost :teeth:

Thanks for calling out for me sweet...nice to know I'm missed :goodvibes

I had some "stuff" going on the past couple days, but almost back to normal...we'll see.... :rolleyes1

And Barb has a terrible schedule some days. Her son is in karate (or tae kwon do... something that involves him achieving Black Belt status)

...going back a few pages and catching up...

My son does tae kwon do too. :thumbsup2 He'll be testing for his Black Belt in April and we're off to Pittsburgh this weekend for another tournament. :thumbsup2

How is everyone today?
I'm at work having lunch, and having some quiet time while my DD is taking a nap in my office. I love Tuesdays and Thursdays when she comes with me to work - it's so great having her here!!:goodvibes

My neck of the woods is suppossed to get a lot of snow (Mac, you may not get much from this snow system - you lucky duck!!!). The weather people are talking about us getting 7-9 inches:eek: It seems like the more I hate winter, the more snow and cold winter gives us. Oh well, I just need to keep thinking spring :flower:

We just found out the date for my 9yr olds first communion, and it's April 26th. I can't believe it - my baby is making her first communion :sad1: :) (2 smilies for that one). So I'm starting to make some arrangements, and I can't get over how much this day is going to cost us, but I keep telling myself it's a once in a lifetime event for her, and I want it to be super special!!!!:goodvibes

Some of you asked about my finger, and it's doing better - thanks!!!:goodvibes I've been very cautious on how I've been holding my razor blades now - I won't make that mistake again for a really long time:rolleyes:

A couple of you also asked if DD's school was closed, and it wasn't - they only had the delay. I wish I would have bet my DH on that one, because I would have won:cheer2:

Well, that's about it from me today - I need to go back to work, and get all the quiet jobs done, so I don't wake up the sleeping princessprincess:

Have a good rest of the day everyone!!

Tricia - at least you have family in the area.

I do. In fact, I have family next door. That is a good thing almost all the time.

That's neat that you can have your daughter at work sometimes. That must be a nice time for you both.

What exactly is involved in a first communion? Do you throw a party type deal too? I have a good friend that was losing her mind trying to find the perfect dress for her daughter's communion, but I don't remember her talking about anything else.

I am doing some random cleaning in my house. Random, as in, if I pass through a room and see something that needs to be somewhere else I'll pick it up. I now have piles in each room that need to be put away, but at least they are in the right rooms. Gotta start somewhere, right? :rolleyes1

Hi Tricia!! :wave2:

Many people have parties/get togethers after the first communion service, like after a baptism. I'm not sure if all people do this, but I know my DH had a party after his, and he wants to the same for our girls (I wasn't raised Catholic, so I had my first communion when I was in 8th grade, and my parents had a small party for me too).

We were thinking about doing something at home, but when we got that April 26th date, we decided to have it at a hall, because the weather here will not be nice enough to have an outdoor party (to bad, because it would be cheaper).

So were are doing a brunch for our guests with champagne:goodvibes
The hall that we are doing this at has a smaller room, which will be perfect for us (we don't have a huge family).

We are going to start looking for a dress in a couple of weeks, and I hope that's enough time. My DD is pretty tiny, so if she needs any alterations done, it will be to take it in, not to leave it out - hopefully it won't need any alterations at all. I just can't believe this day is almost here - time goes by to fast!!!!

::yes:: First Communion usually involved a party of some type, often something at the child's home. We Catholics love our parties. ;)

Okay, gotcha.

My friend, the one who was freaking out about the Communion dress, told me I should check out our local Catholic church. Her words of encouragement were, "Give it a shot. We get to drink AND play bingo!" :rotfl:
