First off this may be a really silly question but I will give it a try. Please I am not paranoid or trying to start a panic. Does Disney check the luggage that is entering the resorts? What if there could be a bomb in the luggage and no one even thought to look at this and they try to set them off at a or all of the resorts? Can someone make me feel better about this thought? Maybe they could look into having metal detectors for all luggage coming into the resorts. Please don't be mean about this question I am slightly concerned about this.

to the best of my knowledge they do not

Besides, what good would that do..you coud get a lot more explosives in a car and that could cause a lot more damage..not like you could put a car through a medal detector..see how easily this could escalate......do they check all the delivery vehicles? Buses? Do you have cars in your neighborhood? Buses? Are they checked?

Hon, you have to not stress too much about these things ..if you do, the terrorists win

they don't check...but I would think the resorts would be very safe. The parks have some security...not great, but it could always be stepped up if needed.

I think about stuff like that all the time....I really try not to.
If you are planning a trip go and have a great time!

I'll be d-----med to let the terrorist ruin my trip to WDW.:mad:

My theory is when it is your time, it will happen, it matters not if you are in Iraq, NYC, WDW or sitting at home. We went to NYC last year when it was in high terrorist level. Lots of security, national guard everywhere including St. Patricks. No problem, did not even think about it. Just went about everyday business. If we all worried constantly we would lock ourselves and family up in our homes. That is not what this country is all about.

Go out and live each day to the fullest. You will be much happier along with your children not seeing the stress. They should not have to live this way. Let them be children enjoying themselves their biggest worry should be if they have to choose between chocolate or vanilla ice cream. ::yes::

First of all.. I want to say how nice everyone is being to the original poster, that is what the Dis is all about.

Steppdaddy, I am not sure when you are going, but want to say this, just go and have a wonderful time. We cannot let these threats put us in a bubble. Life is too short to worry all the time, live for today and enjoy. I do understand your concern though, but we have to be aware of our surroundings and go about our everyday life.

Hugs and have a wonderful time!!!!!

You know what? With or without terrorism, none of us knows if we will wake up tomorrow. Carpe diem. Make lots of memories and have as much fun as you can!

Be careful and stay safe but don't allow fear of terrorism to control you. Disney does not screen the luggage at the resorts, as far as I know.

{{{HUGS}}}

Amen Poochie!!!

As a side thought, a resort would be the last place to go I'd think... bunches of small buildings.... wouldn't be a very good "target" since the number of people there would be so small by comparison too. I might be off but it wouldn't make sense to me anyway. So there is a "reason" not to worry!!! Have a wonderulf time on your trip and try not to worry at all :)

I do thank you all for your input, but I didn't mean to make it seem like I was going to let it ruin my trip. I am still going regardless. I was just wondering if anyone knew if they checked the bags. I wouldn't let them win either. I also know that when it is my time to go it's my time to go. I hope I really didn't make anyone mad, I swear I wasn't trying to start a panic, it was just my silly mind turning. Thank You Guys.

No you did not anger us. You posed a very legitimate question. I'm sure that has passed many peoples minds.

Go enjoy your trip, you are so worth it.:wave2:

Hey dont worry bout it,, you staying at akjl,, i bet stepharoonie would never let a terrorist by her anyways:) we were at the world lats year on july 4th,, security was up,, not intrusive but obviously present,, both at parks and in the resort areas,, even saw more parking lot patrols goinbg on,, was a enjoyable trip and we;ll definately be going back as soon as drs release me:)

I agree with the general opinion, try not to worry and just enjoy being at Disney! That's what it's there for, to leave the "real" World behind.

We are going to be there in July, and I must admit my ears perked up at this latest terrorism warning about something happening this summer.....but I won't let that ruin my life or my trip.

And besides, if I gotta go I can't think of a better place than at Disney with my family....hopefully riding Space Mountain (meant as a joke, not being sarcastic).

Have a great trip!:D

To Uncle Scar I totally had that same thought about if I did have to go what a great place to be in for my time. I will not worry knowing that I am not the only one who has thought of this. It is going to be the best trip yet since I get to take my 2 DN for their first trip ever. Me and my husband are so excited to see it through the eyes of children. We found out about a year ago that we will not be able to have children of our own but are still hopeful that it will happen, so this experience with my Neices is going to be extra magical. Thank you all again for letting me get that question and terrible thought out in the open so I can get reassurance that everything is fine. Thank You so much.

Stepdaddy,

I know you'll have a great trip and it does make the experience more enjoyable to see it through someone else's eyes..no matter the age.

I'm taking my nieces there too. The oldest is graduating this Saturday and will be going to college next year. The Disney trip is my gift to her....actually the memories are more my gift. Even at 18, she's excited like a 7 y/o.

I wish you the best luck on having children! I'm single, with no marriage in site, so I know how much fun it is to do things with nieces and nephews. On the bright side, having "loaner kids" is really cool cause you can spoil them and then give them back to their parents....now you know why I'm called Uncle Scar......:teeth:

Seriously, have fun on your trip and I'll say a prayer that you will be blessed with children.

::yes:: I totally agree!

You and me must be on the same page because I do love having my neices but on the other hand it is great to give them back after a week. And I really do Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your prayers to be blessed with children. But even if it doesnt happen I totally believe there is a reason for everything. We are actually getting the ball rolling tomorrow to find out the exact reason why so hopefully there is a chance that it could happen. Thank You. I LOVE THESE BOARDS. I have been really impressed by how everyone is treated. Thank You all.
