Terror in the Skies, Again?

IMO the short of it is, there is a declared JIHAD (holy war) on our country.

I believe the story, just as I firmly believe that terrorists do dry runs. I witnessed one, returning from MCO to Albuquerque on 9/9/01. As far as I am aware, there were only two Arab men on that flight, but I was seated between them and found their behavior very unusual. They seemed to be together when boarding, but did not speak at all during the flight. The one in the window seat read a flight manual the entire flight, which appeared to be in Arabic. The one on the isle was extremely hyper, and at least a dozen times during the flight stood up and dashed to the cockpit door. Then he would turn around and come back. I don't know if they got off the plane in Albuquerque or continued on to LA, but they didn't look like any of the men pictured after 9/11, as far as I could tell. I did call the FBI, I was interviewed, and that was all I heard. I don't think anyone else really noticed them. My DH was seated in the row behind me (full flight, we were late), and he only noticed that the guy was hyper because the seat kept moving.

We are flying this year, two more trips. If I observe a group like the one described in the article, behaving in a similar manner, I will go to the counter and ask to be reassigned to a later flight. Sorry if that offends anyone, but I will have my daughter with me and I'm not even taking the risk of being on a "dry run" flight.

My friends brother was the first flight of the day on the Logan to LA run on 9/11...this would have been the flight right before the highjacked flight. None of us knew which flight he was on and the first few hours after the attacks were so frightening for all of us.

Ever since this time he is always....ALWAYS...stopped and given extra security checks. He was born in the USA but is of Italian descent and has darker skin with dark hair & eyes...he flys at least several times a month for work and has done so since the attacks and is always stopped and extra searched.
This was not really bothersome to him right after the attacks happened but now two years later he is tired of it!

He contacted the NTSB (I believe thats who) to find out why they were constantly stopping him and he was told that his identification has been "flagged" as someone who fits a certain profile and that he was flying the route used for the attack on the day of the attack and that he most likely will always be extra checked everytime he takes a flight.

Well at least he knows to expect this from now on but he does feel rather violated because had he been perhaps a blonde or a women who flew on that flight he probably would not be "flagged" now. I think he has tried to find other people on his flight to see how they are being treated now when they fly.

My good friend, you know as well as I do that I don't need ANY help to get myself in a whole heap of trouble. I would think you would want to steer clear of me ... you know when the lightning bolt finally strikes and sizzles my fizzle, you don't want to be caught in the backwash! ;)

Lol! Naw your a fixture here, just like drift wood that keeps washing up on the shore with the incoming tide.;) :sunny:

I cannot get your link to work??

I completely agree with everything Snowysmom said.

I'm normally not on the CB so this is the first I read about this story. I can honestly say it has made me sick to my stomache! I could not imagine going through something like what was described in that article.

If I were put in that situation... I would get some big men (and woman if they wanted to) and all stand up, and make them sit back down in there seats. Its not normal what they were doing, and I'd rather get in trouble with the government then get blown out of the sky.

I did a Yahoo search of the author's name and interesting stuff came up. There is a lot web talk going on about this article, one said that the Washington Post has been sitting on this story since Friday, but now ABC and NBC are working on it. Another said that the 14 men are part of a legitimate music group. Another I found interesting was the WWS site itself, it has an online poll going and 85% of the respondents said "yes" to airlines racial profiling. Stay tuned, I think we will be hearing more on this.

i was thinking the same thing you were!

if i'm on a flight with my family, i don't care who or what people look like. noone should "congregate" at the bathrooms (for lots of reasons) and if the flight crew didn't address it, i would.

i'm having a hard time understanding why the flight attendants or the pilot didn't make these people sit down. every flight i've been on, i was told to sit down until the person came out of the bathroom; i wasn't allowed to stand in line even with my child doing the"pee pee dance"

fyi..I heard they'll be mention of this story on the news tonight with Tom Brokaw...stay tuned!

Thanks for the update. Too often because a story doesn't immediate appear in the main stream media, readers doubt its truth and lable it an "urban legend". or an overactive imagination. At 30,000 ft up, we feel a lot differently about things and perhaps men congregating around a bathroom would go ignored on the ground.

I flew this past weekend. Sometimes 2-3 people stood outside the plane bathroom waiting. No one told them to sit down because they weren't allowed to wait in line.

I've flown a lot and I've never seen the activity on a plane that was written about in the wall street story. If I did see activity like the author did, I would be very, very concerned. That kind of activity on a plane is unusual and suspicious. I do believe the author's story. I'll be watching for it on the news.

Is this lady's 15 minutes up yet? I've seen cows milked for less than this incident.
