Terminals D and E at PHL - Easy Access Between Them?

We've all got 7 am flights out of PHL tomorrow, wife and I on AirTran and son and GF on SW. We'll leave out of a D gate and they from E. Is there easy access between them so we can see them to where they need to go and then get to our flight? I did the online check in and boarding pass thing for all of us this morning if that matters. Thanks for any info offered.

It is really easy access. You just have to follow the signs. We landed with SW on 10/2 at gate D, but our luggage was at E. No problem to get there, and the luggage was actually going around the carosel as we got there. That is the fastest I have ever gotten luggage at PHL.

I live in Philly and have been to the airport recently. The are in the process of building a connector bridge so that once you get past security you can go anywhere in the airport you want. Unfortunately you cannot do that as of yet. Once you go through security at terminal E you are stuck there. The rest of the airport you can go all the way from A to D. If you have to go to E you have to get re-screened. I don't know how long the construction will last. Your best bet to get the most up to date information is to email the airport through the website: www.phl.org

It's been a year since I was there, but it was as sweetpea267 said. While they are right next door to each other, You cannot access D gates if you go through E security. You can leave DS and GF in the E security line and then they're on their own from there. (I'm not sure they'll even let you go through E Security) You and DW can then proceed to D. If possible, I would check all the bags on one airline.

But what safetymom said is right, allow plenty of time for security.
