Terminal C and transport options

Thank you. That's the monorail type thingy correct? Not happy about being moved to terminal C. I'm traveling with someone who is disabled so my anxiety is already high and now I'm not sure of the logistics and timing to make our transportation reservation. Hopefully a lot more info will be coming in the next few days.

As far as making reservations for Mears Connect (the bus service, not the private limo service) or Sunshine Flyer, you give them your flight information as well as what time you expect to land, so they'll know that you'll be coming from Terminal C. They don't book guests on specific buses, so you don't have to worry that you'll miss your bus - they simply use your reservation information to estimate how many guests they'll be transporting to which destinations at what times of day, in general.

PS I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that Mears Connect will open a location at Terminal C. The MCO website says that Mears Destination Services is the Aviation Authority’s Ground Transportation Concessionaire. And I imagine that Sunshine Flyer will be trying to serve that terminal too.

As I recall, you also take a monorail from terminals A & B to get to baggage claim when arriving (also when departing). Perhaps a bit longer monorail ride depending on exactly where C is located, but don't think that really makes much difference.

I think that will depend on your circumstances.

As a senior with mobility issues frequently traveling solo, having to retrieve my luggage and then maneuver it on a tram to get to the terminal where ground transport is located is a difference.

I can imagine others will have circumstances that make this less than ideal.

Actually, in the older part of MCO your plane lands at an “airside” and you take a tram to Terminal A&B, which is actually one large building with an A side and a B side. Baggage claim for those terminals is in that big building, so you don’t claim your luggage before you get on the little tram, you claim it afterwards.

Terminal C has its own baggage claim and locations for ground transportation. Mears Connect hasn’t announced that it will have a station there, but I won’t be surprised to read sooner or later that it does.

The airport's website says all transportation options that are currently at A/B will be "coming soon" to C. I imagine between staffing and getting enough vehicles to fill the rental car lots, it's going to take longer than expected to get these up and running.

It also says that the terminal link takes four minutes to get from A/B to C, but the video on the website that shows the whole ride is 2.5, so I'm guessing they're counting the time from boarding to the doors opening at the other station.

My (preferred) home airport is JFK, so I'm no stranger to long APM rides with luggage to get to/from parking and terminals. MCO's seems like it will be a much easier trip comparatively, but still less than ideal, especially for those with mobility issues.

Yes, for me the luggage is a big difference with using the tram… and I only have 1 suitcase! I can imagine the difficulty with more bags, strollers, etc.

I fly out of Newark, so am quite familiar with the Air Train which I need to use for parking. I can manage… but it ain’t pretty! I really don’t want a repeat in Orlando.

Hoping by December the logistics are sorted to offer Sunsine/Mears!

Ah- so you know the pain! I'm flying out of LGA this time (haven't been since they renovated) and honestly, that's causing me the most stress out of everything transportation related this trip!

I know it's better, but I still have flashbacks of the 2+ hour security lines, lol.

I'm flying JetBlue into Orlando in December and since I'm getting in late I have the arrival night booked at the airport Hyatt. But now I'm wondering if the hassle to get there isn't worth it and I should just book something in DS or maybe even WDW, depending on what kind of price I can get.

Getting to the Hyatt would still be easier than going anywhere off airport, it's a four minute ride to the A/B complex and it drops you off near the entrance to the hotel.

I think a lot of the complaining/worry on this thread is about being told there would be ground transportation there as soon as it opened when it's not the case. I'd imagine by December most of this will be sorted especially once jetBlue is fully moved in as they're the only carrier with more than a handful of flights per day to operate out of terminal C at this time.

Thanks for the info. I can't quite picture where the Hyatt is, since I've never stayed there, but I feel like I had to take the tram to the baggage claim and it was in that area, so I would've had to take the tram anyway. Yes?

Good luck with your adventure! Hopefully the renovation will improve your experience and give you new memories to replace those LGA nightmares.

Stayed there many times with an early or late flight. Arriving A/B side you would retrieve your luggage before check in anyway so C will be the same. The difference is that you will then take the tram with your suitcases over to A/B for checkin at the Hyatt.

In the morning you will just go to the lower level for ground transport. Super easy!

They’ve pushed back the move until at least 10/4, most likely due to the impending storm. I’m arriving on the 5th and never got an email, even at the originally scheduled date. I’m chalking it up to jetblue IT being jetblue IT.

Will there be any new JetBlue routes added for the Terminal C expansion? Can't seem to find any information using google. Hoping they add a direct flight from CLT to MCO. Right now my only nonstop option is American Airlines.

I would never expect to see a JB flight to an AA fortress hub like CLT. That would kind of defeat the whole purpose of having the alliance with AA.
