Has anyone been to the Teppenyaki room, the Japanese steak house at Epcot? Any reviews?
Thanks!

Yep, and never again. We had an uninteresting chef, the food was bland, overpriced, and we walked out very very unsatisfied. One of our few poor experiences at Disney.

I always recommend Benihana's at the Hilton near DTD instead of Teppanyaki. There are many better places to eat at the World Showcase.

Teppanyaki is the one place we INSIST on going everytime we are at WDW. Always have had amazing food, service, and is a very enjoyable experience. Chef's seem to go out of the way for small children, the food is always good and the atmosphere is great. I just really think it's a great place to go.

Poster #2 and number # 3 are the resons we always try it ourselfs. There are good days and bad days for both the customer and restaurant. I myself did not like LeCeller but ended my review with a try it yourself. We will be trying Teppanyaki ourself on our May trip. The only part of the reviews I pay attention to are locations, PS, menus and the type of restaurant. When it comes to personel reviews, I ignore them...smjj

We've eaten there half a dozen times, our DS love Teppanyaki style food. It's pretty standard, I've been to better places, and worse. The prices and portions are in line with what you find at any other Japanese Hibachi place.

Is it a must do? Nope, places like that are a dime a dozen.

Is it good? If that's what you are in the mood for, I'd never say not to go there.

It was my husband's favorite place on our last trip. We went for lunch which has better pricing at most sit down restaurants.

the food was ok, but it was the "worst" hibachi style restaurant i have been to (ive been to 3, benihana and 2 non-chains). the food wasn't seasoned very well and our chef was sort of boring. nice to do once, but i wouldn't make any special effort to go back.

Teppanyaki has delicious food, and thats coming from the world's pickiest eater! lol However, the experience is greatly dependent upon your server. I've ALWAYS had entertaining servers, flipping salt shakers and dicing like pros (they cook the food in front of you) but poster #1 has obviously had an either new server, or one who simply wasn't fun. It happens at every restaurant, bad experiences that is, but this is a restaurant that my family has never mised, and we NEVER order the steak! LOL

We had a lovely lunch here. We were pleasantly surprised, and the chef was fun. He liked to joke around. We would certainly go back. princess: pirate: :earboy2:

It's good... but more 'chain' like, if that makes sense. Fun to share the table with other Disney lovers definitely. Certainly not in a league with our local Japanese restaurant, where the chefs know exactly what we like and make our daughter's meal exactly how she likes it without being told.

I guess it depends on how many Japanese restuarants you've visited. If you've seen the volcano/train onion, the rice heart beating, the shrimp being flipped to people, etc., you probably won't be quite as impressed. If you've never visited a Japanese restaurant, I'd definitely encourage you to try it for the experience.

I'd probably give it about a 7 on a scale of 1-10, more so because I love Japanese food than for anything that they did especially right. Oh, their frou-frou drinks were good! :cheer2:

This is my 11 yr old son's favorite place to eat. We've had some very fun chefs and some not as fun. We like it.

Isn't that the truth! I ate there twice last year. The first time was really good, the second just ok. It really depends on the chef you get (imho). I'd still recommend it to anyone interested in eating there.

I enjoyed it on the last trip having never been to anything like it(ok,I loved the idea of the show part)

We've eaten there a few times - it's by DS (now 15) fav restaurant. Each chef we had has always been fun - especially w/those terribly lame jokes.

Several time though, we've gotten seated w/a few "duds". So if you decide to go - talk to the people next to you and "make nice" or an hour or so.

Oh yeah - the food is filling/OK. I didn't think the meal was the best tasting thing I've ever had, but it was definately a fun time. If I can get my teenager to share a meal with me and laugh - it's a homerun!!!

I have never tried Teppanyaki. Any one know if it is possible to see Illuminations from this restaurant?

You can see it from the lounge but not from the hibachi grill tables.

We never miss Teppenyaki but it is true that the food and overall experience will depend on the chef and the hostess. This is true of all Teppen restaurants though. The best part of this place is that you can order the biggest dinner eat the whole thing run full speed to Test Track and ride it three times without getting sick. Try that after a plate of Fettuccine Alfredo from L'Originale Alfredo.
