It's the same as Kanki or any japanese "steakhouse" in anytown USA.
Usually starts with a chicken broth type soup, then salad (iceberg in a bowl), then sometimes a shrimp "appetizer" (about 3 per person) then the meat & veggies w/ rice and/or noodles.
No appetizer, salad or soup anymore, unless you order it separate....used to have the salad with ginger dressing, even at lunch (included in the entree price) and soup....now, you don't get it. We were just there for lunch last month and we all ordered the salad (we eat here almost every trip....the salad was gone last year.....and we miss not having it). I have had all the options for meats over the years and all are good...with a family of 5, everything has been ordered by someone at some point. One time we had someone at our table (not in our party - you sit at a table of 8) who was allergic to seafood.....so the chef cooked all her food first and separately and then did ours. I never tried the tofu (if they have that). You get a bowl of white rice (they will give you more if you ask), onion, mushrooms, some other vegies and udon noodles, all prepared on the grill in front of you.
A big part of the fun is your chef. They are typically very interactive, doing various tricks with the knives and other utensils they use. When my children were young, we began going here and they came to love it so much my DS, now 17 requests we return each trip. You will also be seated with others, to make a complete table of 8. Our last trip we ate with a family from California.
They also have sushi or other appetizers, if you want to add those, too.
It used to be a restaurant where the lunch menu was basically the same and much cheaper. No more.....lunch and dinner is basically the same and the price is the same, too.
I find the menu to be very filling....remember, if you are still hungry, you can get more rice.
