Teppan Edo

Are they still cooking at the table. We have a ressie for January....but had never eaten there previously (yes, I know the name has changed). Only made the ressie because we thought the 3 dd's would get a kick out of seeing the meal prepared.

Teppan Edo is at the table, just like Teppanyaki. Tokyo Dining is more of a regular type of dining room set up. The major difference at Teppan Edo, IMHO, is in the atmosphere. All the little things they did before - like the volcano with smoke, those are still there.

Do they have a different menu for lunch and dinner or is it the same menu now?
Also, was the menu on all ears for dinner or lunch?

I don't know, I wasn't expecting it to be open for dinner - fortunately I had my camera and got 60 or so pictures, including of my menu. I would assume the prices and portion sizes are different at lunch, as that is normally the case. But I can't say for sure. They are still not really officially opened, I don't think you could make a reservation for tomorrow. Yesterday was just walk-up.

Here are a couple of more photos I have up:

This shows you coloring in Tokyo Dining. It isn't the same color all night:

and in Teppan Edo (this does stay the same color, though occasionally the lights were dimmed for mood):

Some of you have already seen them on my site, but that shows more the atmosphere in the two sides at night. The restaurant looks very vibrant, which is what I was trying to show.

Does anyone know if the CS in Japan is still open and if that menu has been changed at all?
Also, has anyone tried to make an ADR for Tokyo Dining? IPO told me that they do not accept reservations. Is that true?

Denise: Great review and pics on your site, thanks!

Yes, counter service (Yakitori House) is still open in Japan. I have not heard of any menu changes.

I've heard so far that no reservations were accepted specificially for Tokyo Dining, which seems odd - that is a large restaurant!

And thanks, glad you liked all the photos and review! I am very, very happy with the redo to the restaurant. It kept a similar experience and food at Teppan Edo in a more stylish setting. And Tokyo Dining is lovely, very nicely designed and lit.

Don't even bother trying to call for Tokyo Dining reservations right now. I just got off the phone with the Dining Reservations people and they still claim it doesn't exist. I even insisted they ask a manager and they are sticking to their story. They keep telling me I mean Teppan Edo. You'd think at least the managers would be aware Tokyo Dining is open!

I'm sure they'll be taking reservations eventually...

Hi Mary!

A few days prior to the restaurant opening, I asked a couple of CM's who were sitting at a desk outside if it'd open early. They smiled and looked like they wanted to say yes, but said that I should call Disney Reservations.

I said "They don't know anything, I used to work there!" :) (which is true). You should show them my photos, of people eating food there - not an event (the restaurant has been open for private events this past week), a real evening of food!!! Crazy how things don't get back to managers and such even. I figured it would open early when I saw they were doing the events.

Found your pics & review, Denise! Excellent! Hey, I didn't know you are who you are.lol I posted on your website after lookiing at the Grand Floridian & SSR pics.

Jenny - I remember that posting, that was very nice of you! I guess I sort of get around now. Resort walks, Food and Wine, Teppan Edo, the CR renovations. Whatever I'm there for! I love happening upon something I am not expecting, like yesterday. Glad you enjoyed the photos/review, I was up until 2am yesterday trying to get it online (we just moved to a house, and I wasn't even set up for internet service yet, we are now - but I had to find a network elsewhere!)

I am talking too much, it's been a busy week. :) Yesterday was wonderful, though. I was so glad we didn't end up at Le Cellier, but at Teppan Edo. Fanstastic.

Hi Denise, I am so excited to read your review and see the photos--can you PM me your link? Thanks! :goodvibes
I would love the link too - can you PM it to me or should I PM you. We have ADR's for Nov. 16th. We loved it before and it looks like we will still like it from what I saw on Allears

Denise, thanks for all of this great info! Wondering about the view from Teppan Edo...can you see Illuminations? we have ADRs for 8:30, and was just hopin! :goodvibes

Thanks! As far as Illuminations, I don't think so. There are some large windows in the hallway, which may offer a view. But I'd rather be outside instead of standing in the hallway (and I'm not sure there would be much of a view there anyway).

Get a dinner reservation first, and then see Illuminations. The Japan area is a favorite of mine for viewing the show. :)

Denise,

Thanks for the pictures and reviews. My DW and I have reservations for lunch on 11/25.

I made ADR's for this 2 weeks ago - I had no problem and it wasn't even open yet!

Does anyone know if the Tokyo Dining is in the old "Matsu no ma lounge" area? That was our favorite place to go at Epcot... great views of Epcot - better if you were in there during Illuminations. We love sushi - so it is always a MUST for us. They have never taken ADRs in that area - so we loved being able to walk up and put our name on the list. If it was an "off time" - it was a great place for a sushi snack and a break without any wait. So - I hope it is similar and I actually hope they don't take ADRs! :)

Disney built an addition to the restaurant. I have never been in the old area, I'd assume it's a combination of new/old. They may not end up taking reservations, though it's quite a few tables to just let sit for walk-up purposes.
