Teppan Edo with Nut Allergies?

Has anyone eaten at Teppan Edo with peanut or tree nut allergies? I thought that Brenda told me a few years ago that it was best to avoid both the Chinese and Japanese restaurants since my son has severe PN and TN allergies, but I just got a response from Lee in Special Diets and he said that Teppan Edo can accommodate any peanut or tree nut allergy.

I would appreciate hearing about anyone's experiences. We're nearing our date to make ADR's.
Thanks!
Lori

My DS (age 5) is allergic to peanuts (among many other foods) and we ate at Teppan Edo in May with no problems at all. They did not cook his food at the cooking table in front of us but rather on a seperate "allergy" grill in the back and then brought it to him. He loved it so much we are planning to go back there agin this December. Any specific questions, just ask me!

I have a severe tree nut allergy (also fish and shellfish). Teppan Edo was very accomodating. The chef cooked all of my food first on the table. It was very nice of him.

We plan on going again because they were so nice to us.

There is a bit of a language barrier with some employees there. They sent the manager to speak to me. He and the hostess gave our chef all the info. If you find yourself with a language barrier, the manager should be able to help. What can I say? Japan is another country ;)

I just have to say that overall, WDW dining is the best out there if you have food allergies in my humble opinion. Outside of the world, I have been treated like I just need to get over my allergy. As if

Thanks so much for your responses. I'm excited to hear that you've had good experiences. We've never tried Japanese in the "real" world. Our annual trips to Disney (this will be our third) are such a treat because Disney is so accomidating.

I know how you feel about WDW! I developed severe food allergies almost 10 years ago in my early 20s. Since then, I have been very careful about eating out. However, I still end up in the ER about 2 times a year. I'm a delayed reactor so I have time to get someone to take me to the hospital.

At WDW the last time, DH told me that he had never seen me eat so much over numerous meals out. I didn't think about it before, but I felt really safe eating there. A lot of people don't take food allergies seriously. Disney definitely does and goes out of their way to make the trip enjoyable. We only do DxDDP now because I get to eat so many different options there. I can't do that in the real world!
