Teppan Edo with Allergies

For those that have been to Teppan Edo in the past few months and have allergies, what has your experience been like? I'm especially interested in knowing if they can accommodate dairy allergies, as I know the grill used to be covered in butter as the first step of the process.

I would guess they'll be scrupulous about preparing food safe for you, perhaps in their kitchen to assure no cross-contamination.

We've much experience with teppanyaki restaurants so prefer to eat other places than Teppan Edo when at WDW.

Teppan Edo and Tokyo Dining are not Disney-owned, but I've found Tokyo Dining very careful about accommodating my g-f/d-f. In fact, they're more cautious regarding gluten than I actually require. I can tolerate the bit of gluten in soy sauce, just not wheat-based noodles or baked items.
 
I have some allergies and have eaten successfully at Teppan Edo many times. Once they suggested cooking my meal safely on grill at the table, but I mentioned that in previous visits, they cooked my meal in the kitchen, and all was well. I highly recommend with food allergies. They were awesome.
 
I have dined at Teppan Edo twice with a friend who has celiac and needs to eat gluten-free. They have always accommodated her dietary needs by making her meal first. I am fairly optimistic they would do the same with a dairy allergy - or, as Sunshine11 points out, perhaps they can make it in the kitchen.
 

My wife has a shellfish allergy, and Teppan Edo has taken care of her on more than one occasion. They have cooked her meal on the grill before they prepare any shellfish there. Disney has been one of the best places to accomodate her allergy property wide.
 
Teppan Edo is very good with allergies.

The manager of the Japan PAVILION came out to insure my moms allergy was not only recorded correctly, but then reassured her nothing was cooked with it (it’s red wine fyi).

I've only ever seen them use oil on the grill, not butter. The temperatures are so high I would think butter would be a bad idea because of the smoking point. I suppose it's possible that they season the grills from time-to-time with butter but you typically use oil for that, not butter. You might want to check with them though. I have seafood allergies and they've always cooked my food first and been very careful about contamination.

That's good to know too. The last time I gave it a try was about 14 years ago and they fixed mine first and then put what I thought was butter on the grill for fixing everyone else's. It would make things a lot easier with oil and not butter, then I probably wouldn't have to have mine fixed separately.
