The poster deciding between this and another restaurant has me a bit worried about booking this. We liked it pre-Covid. During Covid we had 2 bad meals where the food was badly cooked (dry, burned) and stopped going. It’s been a few years so we were going to try it again hoping it’s back to it’s pre-Covid levels of fun + decent food. We don’t have a local hibachi place so it’s unique to us.

Anyone been in the last year or so care to share thoughts?

I've been there a few times post-covid and I find the food overly salty and it always feels so crowded to me. Staff is lovely. I only go because I have a friend who absolutely loves it otherwise I am not a fan. I much prefer Shiki-Sai.

Teppan Edo is sort of our WDW guilty pleasure, go there almost every trip. We don’t have a hibachi place we enjoy at home and there’s just something about the shtick, camaraderie, familiarity, and consistency that works for us.

Despite the somewhat over-salted food we actually enjoy the mostly protein and veggie options just in terms of breaking up other Disney dining options. We do tend to go with the upcharge items, eg filet for the steak, FWIW.

And the draft Kirin is always cold and so dang good.

I prefer lunch over dinner (or a late lunch) as it seems less crowded/chaotic around the entrance, but not enough to change plans over it.

I do wish they’d close for a month and renovate - the restaurant is starting to show its years of constant use/abuse if you really look around. It moderately bothers me, but I get over it.

We’ve had everything from great to just OK chefs, and same with our table-mates - sometimes that can really make or break a visit - but we always generally enjoy it there.

I did notice in the Covid times there seemed to be a lot of fill in chefs, but that time has passed.

YMMV!

We went 2 years ago after a long break from there, felt the food took a serious dive, staff has always been great there. when we went the food was good wouldnt say great, but had a very enjoyable time food and service....We would go again, my boys always love this place.

We had dinner there in March and we both enjoyed it. Minimal wait and I didn't feel rushed.

Follow up time!

We ate here for lunch last week and it was great. Filet mignon and shrimp were cooked to perfection, chicken was dried out though, chef was great fun. We all look forward to coming back and the AP discount at lunch was nice, the person who did the shrimp/chicken combo will skip the chicken next time though. The other party at our table did ask to have their steak cooked more after it was served and the chef obliged- but in the chefs defense they wanted Very well done and not the medium they ordered lol.

We were there feb ‘25 for the first time for dinner. I had low expectations but they were not met. All of the food was bland and low quality. The chicken especially, was dry, tough and gristly. It was gross. Our chef seemed like he’d rather be anywhere else and we felt rushed.

It was just one experience and maybe not representative but one of the worst I’ve had at any Disney restaurant.
