Teppan Edo or Garden Grill???

OK, I reserved the Teppan Edo for our Epcot TS meal, now my hubby thinks we should do Garden Grill instead? Any thoughts? We like both types of food, no real picky eaters. Which would have the better food?

We do have a party of 10. Six adults and 4 children (4, 6, 6, & 8).

Both are very good places to eat. Teppan Edo is fun because the chefs are hilarious and it is cool to watch them make the food right in front of you. Garden Grill is great too because all the food that they prepare are grown right there in the Land, so everything is fresh. Whatever you decide will be fine.

The majority of our meals are based around the kids. i like to keep my little one entertained so i can enjoy the meal plus i enjoy seeing her interact with the characters. Makes the trip so much more worth it. What i am getting at? lol Garden Grill

Teppan Edo.

The only real selling point for Garden Grill is the character interaction. Beyond that, it just wasn't worth the money. Teppan Edo, on the other hand, was a lot of fun for the kids.

My kids were 13 and (almost) 5 the last time we went. The could care less about going back to Garden Grill - in fact, my older child requested that we not go back there - but they both want to go back to Teppan Edo.

I think it all depends on your kids and if they would like the characters better than the Hibachi show. We like GG simply because it is the one sure-fire place we can see Chip and Dale (DS' favorites). Pluto is my favorite, so that's even better. It is rarely crowded, so we get a lot of time with the characters. The food is good on average (salad, steak, bread and dessert are awesome, the rest is just OK).

Garden Grill used to be a must do for us every trip. We went this past October and I am so sad to say we won't be going back. The food was so bad. They have changed the steak and fish and both were awful. The kids chicken was so fatty and just yuck. My kids, who are not picky, couldn't eat it. They even called my sister to inform her she needed to sell her brand chicken to Disney! (she works at perdue) The kids mac and cheese was also disgusting. The only thing worth eating were the sweet potato fries, the salad and the bread. The characters are great there and we love the slow rotation of the restaurant but for the cost we were very upset. I hope one day they bring back the old quality of food. I would pick Teppan Edo.

Teppan Edo was great when we went last year! We love the atmophere and food was good! It might be hard change ressies to GG at the last minute...they stay pretty booked, unless you get lucky! GL!!!!

Going to the Grill on the 29th for my DS's bday. Never been to a character dinner with him so I am pretty jazzed about it .

That being said, we went to Teppan Edo last year with them, same time frame, for DD's 16th bday (and they were so sweet at TE to celebrate the day for both of them) and DS (who turned 4 the next day) LOVED the show at the table. However, after the show- he was ready to get up and leave and the rest of us had to shovel it in our faces. And I had order the SAKE flight to split between my DH and I, so to have to throw back 1.5 shots of SAKE and a beer that had already been ordered, in less than 20 minutes than the hour we gave ourselves to eat, it left me a little toasty so walking around WDW was kinda blaaaaah after that.

So base it on the youngest- are they picky? Do they need constant stimulation?

At Grill, I think we will use the "if you don't stay in your seat, Chip and Dale won't come by to talk to you" excuse and see if it will make him eat and sit still for about 30 minutes.

We ate at Teppan Edo about 3 weeks ago and our 3 kids (11, 9, 6) really enjoyed the food and presentation.

The other family we were sat with was very lame and we had no interaction with them. I wanted to tell dad and jr. to take off their Nascar hats during dinner, but I was afraid of what that would have revealed might have been worse.

My children love Teppan Edo...Matter of fact, I gave up the ressie we had at my favorite place (Le Cellier) in order for them to eat there. I know, crazy.

So if I keep my reservation at the Teppan Edo, will all 10 of us get to sit at one table or will they split us up? 6 adults, 4 kids ages 4, 6, 6, and 8. I would rather be scrunched together, then split up..... We re 2 families of 4, plus grandma and grandpa to make 10 so we really want to try and sit together.

if I am not mistaken, the table sits 8 . the one and only time we went my baby was 2. She was put in the corner of the table (not a real spot) which would have made 9 at the table.. it was hard for her to reach her food and it was crowded. i don't think you will want to sit 10 at a table.

My kids liked Garden Grill and LOVED Teppan Edo. Wife and I prefer Edo too.

We will do Edo again on our next trip and pass on Garden Grill.

We loved teppan edo but you will have to split - you can only fit 8 to a grill.

Maybe that makes the decision for you.

The only show I'm aware of is the one put on by the table's chef. Ours made a "volcano," which was pretty entertaining, but his mastery of English was a bit sketchy. The table next to us seemed to have a better time since their chef was able to crack jokes and banter w/them.

In the complete reversal of your experience, our chef LOADED the food w/salt. The problem is you can add salt, but you sure can't take it out.

For some reason, we also spent a lot of time in Teppan Edo the night we went, somewhere between 2 1/2 and 3 hours for dinner. I wasn't terribly pleased about that.

I know this probably isn't relative to the OP's question, but a warning to anyone who has roseacea and plans to go to TE: it's very HOT at the tables and this can cause a flare-up. My DD really suffered through this dinner.

OP, whatever you decide, have fun. We'll be trying GG for the first time next month ourselves w/our 2 1/2 yo DGD. I'm hoping the food will be good and that she'll have a great time w/the characters.

I read on here that the veggies are only onions, mushrooms and zuchinni. That is why we have resisted making an ADR. Neither DD or myself can eat any of those. DH would really like to try it so I do feel guilty. We had ADRs for both Teppan Edo and Garden Grill on our last trip but cancelled both at the last minute. We booked Garden Grill for our upcoming trip, Chip n Dale here we come
