I can't decide between two for our trip in May. They both sound good, so a I would like any feedback on the food, atmosphere, etc..

We've eaten at both restaurants, and IMO you can't go wrong with either one.

I love them both and can never decide between the two so I always do both.

I agree. For our May trip we are actually doing both...We are eating at Teppan Edo the night we arrive and at Coral Reef the night before we leave. Both have great food and a great atmosphere. Good luck deciding, or if you could swing it, I would do both :goodvibes

I love both restaurants, however, I feel that Teppan Edo is the better experience. There is something about watching the food cooked right in front of you. We have always had a wonderful chef that has hammed it up for us. :goodvibes

They really are both good restaraunts, but Teppan Edo isn't much different than any Japanese Steakhouse. (We have one a mile and a half down the road.) Coral Reef really is unique. I've never eaten in another restaurant with such a large aquarium. However, if you don't have a Japanese Steakhouse around you than Teppan Edo would be something different as well.

Sorry I can't help you from personal exprience. I've been to Coral Reef, loved it, and we are going back this trip. Never been to Teppan Edo before, but trying it for the first time this trip.

I would decide based upon type of food. Would you rather have Hibbachi Japanese food or seafood?

We had to pick an EPCOT restaurant for our past trip and went with Teppan Edo (for the 1st time) over Coral Reef (where we'd eaten several times before). We'll definitely be going back to Teppan Edo, it was a great meal plus having the chef cook right at the table was fun & entertaining. The aquarium at the Coral Reef is nice to watch, but since we're just a party of 2 we never get seated anywhere close to the tank anyways.

My vote is for the coral reef. We can replicate the Hibachi experience here at home, but we can't say the same for the coral reef. Plus I liked the food better at the coral reef.

We ate at both during our last trip! Both where very good! If I had a choice I would go with the Coral Reef. Request a table next to the aqurium window.

We have eaten at both several times and will be eating at both in August. If it wasn't for my sons I would skip Teppan Edo since we have very good Japanese Hibachi restaurants nearby. Its good, but I think I would give the edge to Coral Reef, not necessarily because of the food but because the uniqueness of the aquarium.

We have eaten at both. If you want the "experience" then Teppan Edo is great entertainment with the chefs hamming it up at the grill. But the food is much better at Coral Reef, IMHO and LOVE the Chocolate Wave!

Coral Reef is by far better. Teppan Edo was just plain bad on our last trip. Waited 40 mins past ADR to get seated. Then waited another 40 mins before chef finally showed up. Worst part was the dining room was HOT. We were sweating our butts off so not very enjoyable.

Teppans food was just ok. Nothing great. People enjoy Teppan Edo because of the cooking table side experience. Trouble for me is that Disney does a lousy job at it compared to the many Teppanyaki restaurants at home such as Benihana's.

If you can go offsite, go to Kobe's near Downtown Disney. FAR better food and overall dining experience for Teppanyaki dining. Much better priced and larger food portions as well.

 It's so funny to see this post. For our last night in WDW during my Spring Break trip, I'm debating between these two reservations. I've been to both; my boyfriend has been to neither. We're big seafood eaters; however, we get seafood a lot (we're both from New England). On the other hand, we were at a teppanyaki restaurant two nights ago for a date night with our friends. It's hard to decide because both of these restaurants are fantastic and among the best in Epcot. Good luck deciding; you can't go wrong with either.

Teppan Edo - food is plain and uninteresting, typical of the dozen or so Japanese steakhouse chain restaurants in our town. Teppan Edo is fine... but we can do that at home.... Coral Reef was wonderful. Had table right by the tank, watching fish, sea turtles, etc.... GREAT food. Wonderful service and atmosphere... plus convenient location.

We just ate at both on our trip last week, and our vote would be for Coral Reef. Both were good, but we just had a better time at Coral Reef. We had a table for 2 near the aquarium, the food was delicious, and our waiter was really nice. DH also really liked the food at Teppan Edo, but I wasn't happy about all the oil on it. Plus, the group we sat with wasn't great.

I think we'd eat at either restaurant again, though.

I'd go with Coral Reef. Teppan Edo was really good, but we have had similar experiences at Hibachi in my home town.

I have to agree with a few other posters, Teppan Edo is easily replicated to any Japanese hibachi restaurant where I live. If you can't easily experience it at home, then go for it. The food was excellent and the show fun. We just dined at Coral Reef for the first time last week and I see it becoming one our new favorites. You can't beat the experience of dining next to an aquarium. Both the adults and kids enjoyed the experience (atmosphere and food).

We just got back from the World yesterday, and while I can't comment on eating at Coral Reef, our lunch at Teppan Edo was AMAZING! Truly delicious, fabulous waitstaff, great cool and over all a wonderful experience :)

HTH a little!
