Teppan Edo...is there something special about it?

I have an ADR booked for Teppan Edo, and was really excited about it but I have to give up one of my dinners because I have too many booked and don't want to pay too much out of pocket (I"m on the DDP). I have never been to a hibachi style restaurant locally, but could if I really wanted to...so I was just wondering if there is something about the one at Epcot that would make it stand out over one in NH? Or should I just go locally and keep my Boma reservation? I ate at Boma last year and loved it but wanted to try something new while in Epcot. Any ideas? :confused3

I like it a lot, and it is one of our traditions each year to have dinner there, but I must admit that to me there really isn't anything overly special about that one compared to any other Hibachi style restaurant at which I have every eaten.

this is what I am thinking, that I could get the same experience around here for half the price I'm sure! I just thought walking up all those stairs and being in "Japan" might add to ambience I couldn't get from my local strip mall, but if you get the same type of show, I could just get that around here...

Teppan Edo is fun, more so than other Teppanyaki places I have been to. The prices are pretty reasonable too. It is almost the same price as the local places here.

With that being said, Boma is great so it is hard to pick.

It is a must do for us every trip. It is good food & fun. I wouldn't drop this resturant. It's not like the ones at home.:banana::worship::worship::cool1::cool1:

We actually have better chefs at the one at home - more 'show' than we get at WDW. But its still a Disney favorite for us - the food is pretty darn good.

We always make this a must do but last month when we ate there we were very disappointed. All the years previously it had been very good with a great show but this year it just wasn't what it used to be.
1st they do not have fried rice like they used to and they don't have the salad like they used to unless you pay for it. I did like how they had remodeled it looked great but the food just wasn't worth the money.
The following day we went to the Kobe Steakhouse in Kissimmee and it was absolutely amazing all the extras and for almost half the price.
I would stay with the Boma ressie because I just think you will be disappointed or maybe not different strokes make the world go 'round.
What ever your decision best of luck and remember Have Fun!!

We really enjoy Teppan Edo and more importantly the quality of the service and the food is phenomenal. We like Boma a lot too, but our fam would probably choose Teppan Edo over Boma.

I've never been to Boma but if you love it and can get something like Teppen Edo at home then I would cancel it. The one locally for us is much better then Teppen Edo. Better show, better food, better prices and more food.

While we enjoyed our dinner at Teppen Edo, I am not planning it for our next trip. The portions were alright but considering how all the others were MONDO by comparison it made them seem small.

Same here, we never pass it up. While we can get teppen at home, we never do for some reason. However we love it at Disney and do it as well as Boma every single trip, can't miss Boma, just can't do it.

boy, you guys are making this really difficult! Teppan Edo was the one I was looking forward to the most, until I found out Remy from Ratatouille was now at Chefs de France making little appearances and that is my DD's favorite movie so I had to book that for her so now I really don't know what to give up...if I hear more conflicting reports, I may just have to suck it up and pay OOP for Boma...or, maybe we could just eat at Mara and explore AKL for a little cheaper. Part of the draw of Boma for me is the trip to AKL and walking around...Thanks for your responses, keep them coming! I'm still up in the air with only five days left before we leave!
