We'll be eating here for the first time in a couple weeks. Has anyone ever found that they offer items not on the menu for extremely picky children like some of the other Disney restaurants? We have 3 boys, two that will love this place and the food and one that would probably not eat a thing on the menu. Do they offer the typical chicken nuggets, PBJ or plain noodles that others do (off menu)? Also, while not very authentic to the food - do they offer ketchup for kids that love to "dip"?

They may be able to get plain noodles - but they would be udon noodles, not pasta. I do not believe they can provide chicken nuggets or PBJ, nor have I ever seen ketchup there. You might want to bring some ketchup packets if you can find some at a food court or CS.

i dont think they have chicken nuggets. They have tempura chicken and shrimp neither of which my picky eater would touch. She did eat the fruit cup.

I too have 2 extremely picky eaters. 2 and 4yr old boys. They were both so amazed by the show and it think the atmosphere lended itself to the situation.

They saw everybody else enjoying themselfs. They actually sat there and happily each ate a bowl of white rice. (I know sooo exciting right) But if you have a picky eater you know what I'm saying. We tried not to let our faces show we were happy about them eating rice. Cause ya know, as soon as you crack a smile, they are on to you. They were kinda enough and brought each of them their own fruit cup also. Ya know the premade Dole fruit bowls.

Amen to that! I'm glad to hear the atmosphere helped their appetite. I'm hoping this will be the case with our picky eater. She's really excited to eat there.

Sounds like us in a few weeks! We are trying TE b/c we have free dining. We have 3 boys too, 2 of which are quite picky. I'm HOPING they will find something to eat!
Good luck to you. Hope you have a wonderful time!:thumbsup2

Teppan Edo is not Disney owned. They do not offer the type of options other restaurants do. They do not have plain noodles, PB & J, chicken nuggets or ketchup. If these are important to you enjoying your meal, you may need to reconsider.

we ate there last summer and my 10 year old picked at the grilled chicken and would not touch anything else, no veggies, rice or other meats. there were no other options for non-asian food even on the kids menu....good luck

As others have posted no real good options for super picky kids at TE. Udon noodles, not "pasta" & they're heated on the grill w/ a soy sauce, while quite tasty, I know that if that isn't what a picky eater is expecting it will likely be rejected.

Fortunately for me, my picky eater is a die-hard carnivore, so he ate some of the grilled chicken & some of my grilled steak  (no steak on the kids' menu) If after the meal, your picky eater is starving, head next door to the American pavillion & get some chicken nuggets. :thumbsup2

My DS was very picky as a youngster and I would carry ketchup packets and mini peanutbutters into restaurants to help him. The first time we ate at Teppan Edo (then Teppanyaki) I fed him a yogurt and fruit from the BW Bakery before dinner. He was good and ate some meat (with ketchup) and a bit of rice. After we got him a big pretzel. He enjoyed the experrience and we didn't make a big deal of it or ruin our experience because of his pickiness.

Fast forward to the trip when he was 11 and far less picky but still not adventurous eater at all... back at Teppan Edo and fussing with older sister he eats a his seaweed salad just to spite her and make her look bad! We about died laughing!:rotfl: After that he became more willing to try new things because he said if he could survive seaweed salad he could try pretty much anything!

So it does get better with time, until then, carry ketchup and feed your DS before!
