We've never been to Coral Reef, but tried Teppan for the first time in August, along with a repeat visit to the Biergarten. We weren't crazy about Teppan for a couple of reasons. First, the"chefs" aren't all that entertaining. It's really kind-of cheesy, we thoughts. Of course a squirt of hot oil is going to burn when ignited- what's the big deal? We also found the food to be mediocre; we can get the same around here, with salad and soup included (and we all knowthat Bangor/Portland, Maine, is know for its international cuisine, right?

) The exception to this is the green tea pudding, which is much more like a wonderful flan than a pudding. THAT was the highlight of the meal. It was disappointing, as we'd heard great things and were looking forward to this meal. It just wasn't all that, and we won't go there again.
The Biergarten was a surprise. We've been several times, and it's always been OK, not wonderful, not bad. This time, the food was really good, and we were pleasantly surprised. Lots of variety on the cold, hot, and dessert buffets, and everything was nicely prepared. We had good tablemates, chatty but not overwhelmingly so, and the entertainment is great!
SO maybe Coral Reef and Biergarten???
