We have been to Disney MANY times, but I have not camped at Fort Wilderness since I was a kid. My son just joined Boy Scouts so it seems like a PERFECT time to camp. We will be camping in tents.

We know about the places to have dinner, the Sleepy Hollow ride, and the marshmallow roast, but what else happens at the fort?

We have two tentative reservations. One for the middle of October and the other for the week after Christmas. We wanted to be there for New Year's but that night is sold out.

Also, any ideas of things to take to make our trip fun and comfortable?

there is a list posted on this thread of suggested things to pack, that being said here are some of the things we found most important:
good air mattress/pump
ground cloth to go under each tent to prevent moisture from being on the bottom when you get ready to pack it up, and helps keep it from being coldER at night. Oct. can be hot as blazes or cold...we have frozen in Oct. (rare) always have a good thick layer of something between you and the airmattress as the ground cools the air and can make you chilly even on a hot night and miserably cold on a bitterly cold night in Dec./Jan. best be prepared for all kinds of weather and temps with layers for clothing . Last early Dec. it got so bitterly cold we saw the Fort almost empty at one point!!! Yes it was that cold even for people who usually adore it! We found buying small tarps to cover our bedding while we are out saved us as well when rains blew in and soaked out tents that were "rain resistant"( floor was wet when sides touched but the bedding stayed high and dry with the covers/tarps on them! we take a small table and heater for our HUGE tent when we use it instead or in addition to our TT when we bring family too big to all fit in the TT. You cannot use a heater in a small tent and it is not advised to use at all, that being said we use a heater and electric blankets but our big tent is so big there is no risk of knocking it over and its off the ground so as not to touch the floor. coolers of the 5 day type are great, quarters for ice and laundry are VERY helpful too! cooking ourdoors is fun but I'd suggest a tent(screened) to go over your cooking area if you plan to cook and not on the DDP! propane is available if you run out and open fires are NOT allowed except in the small BBQ grill for charcoal at your site. Closed firepits have been allowed in the past(screened) the areas are pretty well lit but you may still want some type of lighting for cooking. Shower areas are clean and the water is hot!! it it's so nice to just arrive at your site and not have to hike forever like at the resort hotels from the parking lots/bus stops back to your room!!!! New Year's Eve is insane! If you aren't planning on being in the parks pretty much all the day and night you may find it impossible to get in! They close when it gets to capacity and takes along time to get in and out of MK that day!!!! Food and Winde Festival as well as Halloween is in Oct. and its wonderful!!! MNSSHP is a must do for our family! Hope you have a magical trip!:hippie:

Thanks for your reply.

Is there a specific area that I should request?

Does anything special go on at the campground during those times of year? Where would I find a list of Fort Wilderness activities?

We will go to MNSHP one night, probably one of the campground dinners another night, Epcot for Food and Wine, and probably skip the other parks.

There are activities everyday, there is a list by the pool. I know bingo is a favorite.

You can stay in any site. But, the tent specific sites are loop 1500 and 2000. 1500 closer to everything, 2000 is a bit more secluded.
