Hi,

We have decided to return to FW November 13-20 and will be tent camping. We've been to FW several times... and we tent camp quite a bit... we've just never tent camped in FW. We have a Coleman Coleman 8-Person Family Cabin Tent - 14'x10' (which we love by the way) and an octogan shape 13 x 13 canopy. We will only have one vehicle on the site... but from what I'm reading, loop 1500 may not be large enough? We were just thinking of requesting that specific loop... but would want to have space to be comfortable. What do you recommend? If we have to go with loop 2000... is it really that far from the pool and stuff? It's just me, DH and 10 year old DD... we'll have bikes and probably rent a cart. Thanks for the help!

There are a couple of sites in 1500 that have trees in weird spots (like right in the middle of the area where you would want to set up a tent.)

1506 for one is not good, and if I remember 1505 may have some trees in bad spots.

Just tell them when you request Loop 1500 that you need an unobstructed sand area.

I have personally stayed in 1503, 1517, and 1520. All of those sites are plenty big.

However, if you "really" want to spread out, Loop 2000 has plenty of room in EVERY site. If you have a golf cart, location is really not an issue.

site 1514 has loads of room as well as 1515 (from what we could see as we were staying in 1514)
Send the fax requesting your site and let them know what you have (size of your tent) they will take that into account when assigning your site.

We were in 1504 in May and there was a tree kind of mid-corner that messed with our set up BUT we were still able to fit a 15x15 octagon screen house, a 10x20 dining tent and a 9x13 tent on the site.

sdsmom - Do you have any pics of your setup? I would love to see it :) Thanks:wizard:

Also - Did you do a trip report? I am wondering how it was tent camping ...

I did not do a trip report, but I will be happy to answer any questions you may have. The weather was really nice while we were down there (May 9th to the 13th) and the bugs weren't bad at all. We kept a fan running in the screen houses and hung another in the tent. We left the fan running and the flaps slightly unzipped during the day which made the tent fairly comfy when we needed to get in. The temps and humidity weren't too bad - it was pre-this-horrific-heatwave we have been dealing with lately. It was hot, but not HOT. We found that if we showered at night and then got into bed - we slept comfortably. Again - the humidity really wasn't all that bad when we were there.

Apparently I didn't take any pictures after we set the dining tent up - but here's what I have:

Site 1504 - note the funky tree in the back right corner. It was obtrusive, but we dealt with it.

We positioned the tent between the two trees on the right. It just fit. The Geosport had to be pushed to the left because of the tree and hung over the edge of the sand pad a little bit. It was staked on the pad, but the end hung over the left rear corner. The dining canopy is 10x20 and we placed it across the front of the site - slightly in front of the picnic table pictured here. It hung off the left side of the sand pad a little bit because we had to work around the grill, water and electric

I liked this site because it was diagonal from the CS and not far from the tether ball court and bus, but was wooded enough that we felt secluded.

Thanks so much for the info. We'll give 1500 a shot... it is our first choice due to location.
