We will be camping 7 nights October 8- 14 at the Fort. Will fans be adequate or will I need to bring my portable Ac. What is the weather typically like that time of year?. Thanks

following...we plan on tent camping late OCT and our plan was only to bring fans. I will be curious as to what others have to say.

Average temps that week per Accuweather is a high of 86 and a low of 66. Pay attention to the weather forecast for Disney before you come and plan accordingly.

Keep in mind, "average" means 'your mileage may vary'.

I'd bring them. I've been there end of Oct when it was HOT!

We've camped in September and plan to camp in August with just fans. I rather think that part of the charm of camping is the closeness to nature and heat is part of that. I've found that having the air moving and taking a shower before bed were enough to keep me comfortable enough to sleep without any problems at all.

Also depends on where your site is and how shaded it is. Being a Floridian, I would just bring fans as if you get a great shady spot like I did the one tent camping I did at the fort it was all that was needed. This was May and back when they used to do Ironman. I was in loop 300 that backed up to the Comfort Station and it was down in the 60s at night and 80s in the day. It was super nice. This last May, it was only 70s at night and high 80s during the day but we were in the RV. I would wait until your closer to travel time and be open ti anything as our cold can be very cold and it can heat up nicely during the day. Normally it pretty mild around October but you never know.... You really not know until a week before you go, but be ready for anything but SNOW!

I just scored my second day for our Halloween trip and combined the reservations. So I will be there Oct 29-31. :) Yeah for Halloween at the Fort!!

Wow.... This is such a subjective question. Been to WDW in April, August, October, November and December.... With the exception of August, each time we had days that were very VERY hot and an AC would have been welcomed AND on those trips we had days were sweatshirts (and heaters) were welcomed. Our August trip, there was no doubt we wanted AC (and we were in a hotel too) I don't think a fan would have done it.

All that being said, the question to you is how well do you handle the heat and humidity? I can deal with it better then my DW. No way she would go in October without AC available. Me? I'd be good with a fan.

I think looking at the historical weather for the area is a good indication, but as Ed points out, an average means you can have a low and high range Seems Record High for that time of year (in Kissimmee Florida taken from https://www.wunderground.com/history) is about 94 degrees and low is 55 degrees. Average Humidity of 82% (which is fairly high too)

He practically wrote the book on October tent camping at the Fort.

Just because I have been a few times in October, in a tent. We have used both fans and an ac. We always bring flannel sheets, we're from the north, nothing else will do, and fans worked just fine. A good Dis friend brought a portable ac unit for us to us last year and that worked even better. It just depends on what your comfort level is.

Thanks all. I don't like to be hot when sleeping so I think I will just bring both and use what I need each night.

Just check the weather a few days before you leave. It should help you plan better, but have both ready to pack. We can be ALL over the place that time of year. For Halloween I have had to repurchase costumes because what they had was either going to be way too hot or not enough for the cold. Florida can vary greatly!!! But normally its very mild normally for me, but I like HEAT much better than COLD..... Hence why I love Florida :)
