Tent camping for the first time...eeekkk..lots of questions!

Can't speak for everyone, but for me it's because I don't like waiting for the coals to get hot enough. Also, we're building a camper this fall and believe me, that puppy will be kitted out with a waffle iron...makes the whole campsite smell YUMMY:woohoo:

Mmmhhhmmmm.... ::yes::...and bacon, can't forget the bacon! Waffles, coffee and bacon...camping breakfast of champions! :thumbsup2

Coleman makes a cooler that is a 5 day cooler. They are large on the outside, but small on the inside. They will keep you food cold for up to 5 days, 3 at least. We have two and they work great.

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 ohh looks that we are told what kind of equipment to take! :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Not even for my backpack camping, too heavy for my back :worship: :worship: :worship:

We tent frequently at FW as well as rustic camping elsewhere. FW is like the Waldorf of campsites! Outstanding amenities, AND you're at WDW. My wife and I found over time that 2 twin mattresses next to each other, topped with a king mattress pad gives a luxurious king type experience. No longer when one gets in or out of bed does the partner get popped into space! Excelent isolation of movement!

That'll be 2 cents. :yay:

Now THAT is an awesome idea! We use the queen and we have to time getting out of bed just right or the other rolls onto the floor:lmao:

That is exactly what we do.... I got tired of sailing through the air each night. :)

I think what all of us here have been saying is that camping at FW is not "normal" camping. I mean.. where else do you get cable with your tent site. We camp a lot in NC, TN state parks and usually have no electricity... so our camping gear includes mostly things to cook with propane or grill... and even less if we are hiking in or canoeing in. HOWEVER.... camping at FW allows you to be just plain crazy :rotfl: At least for us..... I love to setup like a Harry Potter tent.... Why not? We are usually there for 7-10 days... we make it comfortable for us... as long as we enjoy ourselves.... it doesn't matter if we bring the kitchen sink (and we actually do) .....

It's the frivolous moments that make is magical... tea kettles, waffle irons, coffee makers, panini maker (my favorite).... It's Disney... why not!!!!!:lovestruc

panini maker OK

waffle maker no way

 even if you could throw in some blueberries???

I see some great comments on the Coleman oven.... do you guys really like it? We have been thinking about it and wanted to get reviews....

1. Only in the Dunkin Donuts that I like.

2. Cons

  • Uses a lot of fuel
  • hard to keep the right temp
  • doesn't sit well on a two burner stove with a wind screen (that's why I have a separate single burner stove)

Pros

  • not as bulky as you would expect
  • fresh baked rolls and biscuits

Kind of off the subject, but don't forget an alarm clock!! It's the last thing we think of but one of the most important things if you are planning on going to the parks....at least if you are planning on going for EMH or rope drop :thumbsup2

WOW...I LOVE the waffle maker!!...I'm sitting here bumming because mine just gave up the ghost and I don't think that I can fix what went wrong with it. Waffles are a special thing in our house...not a part of usual fare...what's wrong with having something special on your vaca? This inspires me to see if I can't possibly fix ours just for our August 2012 trip. Thanks PixieDust32 :)

Ok no more lame "waffle irons aren't for camping" jokes. I was running out of material anyway.

But back to the OP's question.

Not sure it this was posted, but for the kitchen, make sure you have all the tools you need to cook the food you bring.

If you make mac and cheese do you have a colander? I have seen a lot of pasta over the years on the ground, growing up camping and on my own, using a pot lid to drain it. Also a paper towel makes a poor pot holder, buy some just for camping and leave them in your kit.

One thing many people don't think of is a cork screw. Ever try to open a bottle of wine with a screw driver and a hammer without getting little cork pieces in your in it. I know there are probably thousands of videos on youtube but this was even before dial up.
