Has anyone ever been tent camping at Disney and had to evacuate due to a hurricane (or potentail hurricane)? Did Disney find you a place to stay or were you on your own?

Best chance of replys will be to post this on the camping board.

I have tent camped at fort wildreness but never during a hurricane. I have read that they have you pack everything up and move you to one of the other resorts until the storm passes. Usually to a value resort but some have asked to goto the wilderness lodge and the request was granted. They do the same for those in RVs too.

They move you. My brother goes to Disney often and stays at Fort Wilderness. We were all there during one of the big hurricanes, forget which, we've been there for a few. He has a good size RV. Disney moved them to Port Orleans FQ. I think he was there for 2 nights and then went back to the Fort. Disney is very careful during hurricanes. We were at the Poly that particular time and Disney made everyone stay in their room. They are very good.

Enjoy The Magic!!

Disney handles this situation great. They will relocate all guests to other resorts. I have seen where people have requested to stay and they have not honored that request.

I'll post that even though campers will be moved, there could be a lock down on the resort rooms once you are moved. We went during Francis and had a 24 hour lockdown where we were told to stay in our room (at Pop Century). We never lost power or cable or water and we never saw anyone, including guests, outside during the storm. Disney was great and had showing of Disney movies on their channels while the locals channels told us their was a storm going on - over and over and over and over.

As an aside - my sister and her family and my dad and stepmother all lived in the Florida Keys for well over ten years. If they had to evacuate for a hurricane, they went to Disney World because it's one of the safest places in the state.

OP - you have nothing to worry about, Disney knows what to do and does it well.
