Tender Mercies

Another Thanksgiving has passed, and each year when I think over the day, there is always something I may have done a little differently, but I also look for those small things, those tender mercies that I am so grateful for. Here are a few of mine...

--My sister and her son had been somewhat estranged for the past several months, and I didn't even know if he would come. Well he did, and they joked and talked and it was so wonderful to see the ice broken between them.

--Our little foster daughter brought such a spark to our gathering. She was good as gold and enjoyed the attention, and I was so thankful she could spend her first Thanksgiving surrounded by people who love her.

--My parents are in their eighties, and after I kissed them and said goodnight, I watched them walk away down our front steps, and felt so grateful for this day, and that they are still with us.

Please share some good moments from your Thanksgiving, 2009.

Pretty much just everything! It was only our immediate family this year, and so we have really gotten to reconnect again. It was fun to just sit around the table and share memories of past holidays, trips, ect.

Of course it's also incredibly entertaining to have a 2.5 and 16 mo little sisters at the table as well.

I almost lost my oldest dd this pass August and looking across the table at her eating almost brought tears to my eyes, so grateful for another year with her.

I haven't seen my parents in years and seeing them today made me feel blessed.

Seeing my youngest dd without her dh and seeing her still be able to laugh and have a good time made me to know everything would work itself out and would be alright.

Thank God for life, health and strength and another year with my family!!!
