What are the temps and crowds like in Dec? We are Northern Midwesterners so 60 degrees is awesome. Also do the rates shoot up during the holidays? we were thinking early dec at the Boardwalk villas Any tips will be appreciated. Thanx! :hippie:

Average early December temperatures have afternoon highs in the mid 70s with morning lows in the low 50s.

Realistically you can expect high temperatures anywhere between 60 and 80, so I guess that is good news for you!

Crowds are manageable in early December. Weekends are more crowded, especially on the nights of MVMCP.

Weve gone the last two decembers and let me say BRRRRR... We are from ohio, so we are use to cold winters but a few times, those 50 degree days at Disney were downright chilly. There was not a time either year that was warm enough for us to swim (although a few kids were always in the pool)...In fact, we never wore shorts. A few days, it was low 70's and just gorgeous out for t-shirt and pants, while other days, we had winter coats, gloves and hats. There was even one night they nearly got a frost! It was still warmer than Ohio, but I had the misconception that Florida was always toasy warm...and that's just not true. Last year, we went Dec 1-8, this year it was Dec 8-18.

We found that last year, we were there the first weekend in december and it was packed because of parade taping. This year, we came after the taping weekend and found it not bad at all. In fact, a few nights on the EMH's, it was like a ghost town. The only day that was aweful was our last night (sat 17th at MK PACKED!) and the 19th we found much more traffic in the parks as well.

As for rates, For 2006, here is the breakdown on seasons:

Value Season: January 1 - February 15, August 6 - November 16
Regular Season: April 23 - August 5
Peak Season: February 16 - April 22
Pre-Holiday: November 17 - December 19
Holiday Season: December 20 - December 31

We found our pricing not much higher than value season...they go up when holiday season starts as does park traffic.

The Christmas party is awesome, we loved it, and the decorations are amazing. If you havent been to disney at Christmastime, its a must do!

Here are our dates,
Nov.25-December 1st. Thanx 4 your help so far! Should we book now or in a few weeks?

 Hi
My sister and I are planning a Dec. 2007 WDW vacation. I didn't realize there was Pre-Holiday rates. I thought those dates given would be value season. You state it isn't much more, would you be able to give an estimate as to how much more? Just curious as we are tentatively thinking of Dec.8-16, 2007. You can private message me if you want.

Thanks for your help.

Dec 5th thru the 15th Are low crowds.

You should book now. The hotels tend to fill up quickly. In fact we reserved our hotel in June or July last year for the first part of Dec (1-7, 2005) and the hotel we wanted was already full. Had to go with second choice (POFQ), which turned out to be a wonderful place to stay for us.

The BWV are part of DVC, and early december is one of the most popular times for DVCers to go. The points are low, the weather is mild, and the crowds are moderate. Not to mention the holiday decorations, and MVMCP.

We were in WDW Dec 2004 and the weather was wonderful, temps in the upper 70's to 80. We swam every day, and even hit the water parks. The crowds were very reasonable, but I would not call them low. And the holiday atmosphere was the best! We are planning another Dec trip for next year.
