Temperatures at the moment?

As we are there in less than a week, very interested in current temperatures. Surprised at the differences quoted by different sites - ABC is saying that for all next week, there is fog in the morning and sun in the afternoon - I thought the morning fog/June gloom would have gone away by now. They are quoting temperatures of up to 77 - but 'feels like 87' that's a big difference!

DH's i-Phone says temps in LA are barely into the 70's (daytime high) for all week (which is lower than here in the UK) and other sites say 86/87 later in the week.

I'm confused!

It's pretty much supposed to start out in the low 70's at the beginning of the week, then climb to the upper 70's later in the week, possibly low 80's. Don't worry about the fog/gloom - that burns off after the morning. And yes, there is a "feels like" or "real feel" factor that exists, no matter what the actual temperature number says. The number is one thing, but because of various factors 'in the air' it can feel warmer - especially in the middle of DLR. There's no telling what the real feel temp will be from day to day. But that's the thing that gets me, personally (because I'm super heat-sensitive) - when it says it's a nice 75 or so, but it actually feels like it's in the 80's! Sometimes the real feel temp may only be about 5 degrees difference. But this is summer, so I suppose a 10-degree real feel difference is possible.

I think this is actually perfect weather. The 70's are a nice, comfortable range, and so when the real feel temp kicks in, it only reaches the 80's. I don't want to have starting numbers in the 80's, with a real feel temp of 95 or something!! Or starting temps in the 90's, with real feel temps of 105!:scared1::scared1::scared1:

With the wide variations in temps depending on where you are in the LA area I would make sure that you make sure the forecast you ask for is for Anaheim. We were just in Disneyland and the high temps were mostly mid 70's for the week although got to 84 or so on Thursday.

Yeah, this! We were there a couple of weeks ago (June 18-22) and I remember that DH and I would make a game out of guessing what the real temp. was vs. what it "feels like" :rotfl: Yes, we were bored waiting in line. Anyway, I think one night after we came out I went to weather.com to see what the actual high was mid-day @ Disneyland, and it said 78 degrees (my guess was 82). It felt warm walking around, but not muggy and really gross like how it is right now in the Bay Area. It only felt really bad when we were standing in line right in the sun :)

Sorry but the June Gloom is still with us.;) In fact it only really started about a week or so ago. Right now it's just after 8 a.m. here in So. Cal and it's pretty gloomy out. And where I live is usually sunnier than Anaheim. (Inland Empire)

We went to DLR on Tuesday and I don't think the sun came out until way after noon. I actually like it this way though-not too hot.

Also remember that once the sun goes down, the temp really drops. It can get down right cold! DD10 and I wore our jackets/sweaters in the a.m. and also once the sun went down. A drop of 20-30 degrees at night isn't unusually, especially if it's been really hot during the day. A day that hits 88 can and will drop to the mid 60's in the evening.

Have fun!

:rotfl2:I only wish it would drop down to the 60's after 88 degree days more often! Unfortunately, all too often in the summer - especially August and September - it will be 90 or above in the day and only drop to 80 at night. I would be downright comfortable and thrilled if a good 60-degree temp happened at night so I could get to sleep in the summer!

Since the OP is from the UK - England, it appears - where it can get chilly, I think a Southern California 60-degree temperature would be fine, if that were to happen. But, as stated earlier, it's supposed to be in the low 70's at the start of the week, then slowly climb to the upper 70's, and it will feel warmer than that in DL. It'll be great!

I'm_Wishing - Los Angeles Basin temperatures are generally lumped in with the "Inland Orange County" temps on all the local weather reports (and Inland OC includes Anaheim). It's when you get into the San Fernando Valley (extra hot) or down by the beach (cooler) that there is much of a variation.

Yes, exactly! That's when the "real feel" temps really kick in - when you are standing right in the sun, in line or maybe sitting at an outdoor table to eat, and the pavement at DLR is great at reflecting heat and radiating it back outwards. So even when it has been in the 70's just in terms of actual temperature number, in DLR it feels like the 80's! That's the mysterious "real feel" effect.
