Telling this WEEK

Hey there we are telling our kids this weekend............HELP we want it to be so much fun for them. Needing help it has been tough we have had two deaths in the family and my Mother now has cancer so it is starting to get us all down. I am heading to my aunt's funeral tomorrow we just had my uncle's funeral last month which they are both siblings of my Mother plus as I said she has cancer of the lungs small cell rapid growth they call it. SO not good there either.

So we thought that it was time to tell the kids ................could use some help on how to do it............if anyone would like to give me some ideas I would love it.

We are going to tell them this coming weekend June 30th so need ideas now so we can get it all ready .

First off to you and your family during this difficult time.

What a great suprise for the kids. How about doing some type of a scavenger hunt? Or make a word scramble spelling out "WE ARE GOING TO DISNEY"!!

Do a scavenger hunt! Maybe with a pirate map and the treasure could be a suitcase with something disney in it?

How about a scavenger hunt with Disney Dollars (if you have a Disney Store near you). It would double as some spending money while they are at WDW.

We have a family friend who in 3 years lost her mother, husband and her son. She just recently lost her brother. She started reading books by Sylvia Browne. Don't know what your beliefs are-but after reading her books I have to say I like what she says.

Let us know what you did to break the great news to your kids of your trip to WDW. Have a great time.

Thank you I do believe that I am going to check out some of her books at the local library thank you so much for the information. I think that we are going to try and do a hunt and maybe instead of Disney Dollars since there is not a store near here I will do like Disney stuff stuffed Mickey's things like that what do you think ? ?

First off, I'm so sorry for your losses and your Mom will be in my thoughts. (((HUGS))), secondly, we are telling our kids this weekend too!! Our package should be delivered to me today at work! YAY!!!!!! We are doing a treasure hunt for the kids, we've got clues that they will find in various places these clues will lead to a map that will lead to the treasure. I am having trouble finding a "treasure chest" so I may use the suitcase idea posted above. Some of our clues are a candy filled sword, a Pirate skull antenna topper, we have a rock sphere that has what looks like little Mickey's on it, and I have some guitar picks printed with Disney characters. What we are going to do is write up clues and put each clue by one of these markers, each marker will have another clue, ie "find the rock with the hidden Mickey" and at the rock there will be another clue, ie "find the sword filled with treats". At the last marker there will be a "map" to the "treasure chest" that will hold our trip itinerary! Enjoy your telling and most of all, enjoy your trip!

Thank you for your thoughts and you also have fun telling your group about going. It has been so tough trying to keep it a secret that DH said it was time to tell them.
