I am kind of bummed, found this thread AFTER I bid. I got the Hilton at Walt Disney World for $75 over the 4th of July week. But I see others got it for $60. When I called the hotel to ask for non smoking double beds I got MAJOR attitude from the women I spoke with. She said "WE DON'T REVISE RESERVATIONS MADE through Priceline" I kept saying that I was not asking her to revise it, just add it to my reservation, the room category was not changing. She was difficult. Sigh. :confused3

What hotel? Wingate, MCO
How much? $48, $60 with taxes
Amenities level? 3*
How far in advance? 4 weeks

Don't know if we'll like it or not, as our visit is in August. Tried Hotwire for the first time and just needed one night to sleep for our 830 pm arrival. We head to our Beach Club Villa the next morning. :yay:

I have never tried Priceline, but we may be in Orlando in two weeks and am thinking of trying for a hotel for a couple of nights.

Is it a bad idea to try for a room just a few days before you need it? I still don't know if we will be there and probably won't know until 4-5 days before we are there.

Am I too late?

chobie- how did you bid to get gaylord mind I ask? disney resort area and what star rating? I have been lurking on priceline and the bidding one but not so sure if I should give it a try to get one night there.

When I did priceline and got the Gaylord Palms back in May (for a July trip). I first bid $85 for WDW vacinity, resort. It was declined. I then bid $93, same dates, resort again, WDW vacinity again plus I added Winter Park. With this combination I got Gaylord Palms. I think if I had just bid $93 on my first try I would have got GP.

I was super pleased with this as GP's rack rate for a standard room was $199/night.

Good luck

I bid for a resort in the DW area and tried like, $80 a night the first time and was rejected, and then upped it to $85 and got the Sheraton Safari. It was for this weekend, for one night (July 29 - 30), 2 rooms.

BCTrip - Sheraton Safari is a 3-star, isn't it? Maybe you should double check because it sounds like you were overcharged. I'm pretty sure people are paying $45 for that ( according to Biddingfortravel.com)

I don't know, I thought it sounded strange too, maybe i'll email priceline, i'm not sure what to do. the rooms start at $119 on the Sheraton website.

In 2003 we bid $85.00 and won the Gaylord Palms...OMG! I loved this hotel. The rooms were huge and there was so many things for my DS to see! We were given an atrium view for no additional charge and it had a balcony. My DS just sat and stared at all the things going on in the atrium. They have an "octopus" kids pool area that is wonderful and so much fun. The hotel is literally right across the street from Disney and we used the hotel buses with no problems at all! We also ate ice cream at Ben and Jerry's one evening after swimming and my DS (who was 3 1/2 at the time) still remembers how much fun this was! I have read on these boards that people are still winning this gorgeous hotel for around $94.00. It is well-worth that amount! I used bidding for travel as my guide to see what to bid, I swear by that website. I use it all the time!

What hotel? Amerisuities at LBV
What did you pay? $35 with taxes $43.17

What ammenity level 2 1/2*
When 9/19- 9/21
