Tell us about your arrival at WDW.....nothing beats the first day of vacation!

We leave in 2 weeks. Our plan is to stay with the in-laws the night before and they take us to the airport early for a 7am flight. I too am like the commercial -- I won't sleep much as i'm too excited. :goodvibes

We arrive at MCO before 11am. Hop on ME get to the hotel and check in. We'll await our grocery delivery and explore the hotel and for the kids -- it wouldn't be the first day without a dip in the pool. Last year when we went the kids didn't wait long enough to get their swimming trunks on. :Pinkbounc

We plan an early ADR (5ish) for a special dinner as he haven't really eaten much all day. Then we could go back to the hotel, but we won't. It's off to the parks and some first day Disney magic. Get back to the hotel and pass out!

Then it's up early to hit the parks glowing in DisneyMania. :cool1:

Til we leave I jump on the DIS and get my fill. I could pack but then again why be that prepared! :rolleyes1

This is actually going to be our first trip in July but this is our plan:

Getting to WDW around 3 p.m., check-in at ASMo, get settled and head over to EPCOT. We have ADRs for LeCellier at 7 p.m. but we're hoping to have a little time to walk around WS and get a start on our Pressed Penny collection :thumbsup2 After dinner, we'll stay for IllumiNations and then head back to ASMo for a good night's sleep :cloud9:

We have a full day at EPCOT for our 2nd day so the first night we'll just do whatever looks fun to us!

We always leave home at 4 am central time. DH goes to bed around 8ish to get some sleep b/c he is the driver. This is when the rest of us get all pumped up. :Pinkbounc We get up at 4 pack the car and we are off!!! The kids usually sleep until around 8 when we stop for breakfast at mcdonalds. Then we are off again!!! I'll admit it usually gets pretty boring around the noon mark, so that's when we stop at Cracker Barrell for lunch. The arrival time for WDW is around 3pm. :woohoo: After checking in and checking out our room, we will walk around the resort and have dinner there around 6pm. Then it's off to bed. It's always MK for our 1st day. Gotta have the originals first.

Every year the first day of vacation is different lol. I remember the first day of vacation from last July. I will never ever forget it!

We were spending the night at the Sheraton Hotel in Bradley International Airport. We arrived there and had our luggage ready to go up to our room. We checked in and they gave us the room key. So we found the area of elevators to head on up to our room. This is what happened:

I pushed myself into the elevator along side my parents and sister. We each had our own luggage (about three pieces each) It was a tight squeeze but we managed in. My dad was closer to the buttons and pushed the appropriate one. The doors closed but we didn't go anywhere. While we were so excited to be initiating our anticipated vacation, emotions were emphasised as we inflated the situation fearing we were stuck in the elevator (and as a Disney fan, I kept telling myself *I was not planning to ride The Tower of Terror just yet!!!*) More buttons were pushed and luckily the doors opened. As we were all nervous, trying to get out of that elevator was another adventure. No one wanted to stay in that thing any longer than the next person. There were four elevators in this area. We quickly darted off into the one directly across. Pushing and shoving our ways into it yanking our luggage towards ourselves, my dad proceeded in again, pushing the appropriate button. This time the doors had not closed. Realizing that it is not working as we understand an elevator to work, we quickly started shoving and pushing our ways out again. Then just as I was on my way out, my luggage got caught so I was half in and half out. Just then the doors started closing. lol I finally got the luggage free and got out of that elevator. We all stood there wondering why the elevators were acting all messed up. This time we decided to try another elevator. There were two left untried at this point. My sister and my dad ran into one and quickly pushed the buttons before my mom and I had a chance to get ourselves in there. The doors closed immediately for them. So we ran into the last untried elevator and my mom started pushing any button to get it going. The doors did not close and no matter what we tried, it did not work. At this point, we were laughing so hard thinking about what we must look like running from elevator to elevator. Not more than about 3 minutes later, the elevator doors from across us opened and I saw my dad and sister race out with my dad yelling back to my sister "Go, go go!" lol They ran straight into our elevator unknowing of its unsuccessfulness lol. After 5 minutes, my dad noticed this slot above the buttons that was about the size of our room key. He swiped the key and sure enough, on goes the elevator! We were completely overcome with laughter at this point. So we finally reached our floor and as the elevator was crowded enough, my dad and sister got out first and before we could stop it, the doors closed on us and down go my mom and I. There was only one key to our room and my dad had it. lol We had hoped they would bring us back up. My mom and I stood in the elevator unable to open the doors and unable to bring ourselves back up. lol. Soon enough though we felt the thing jolt and we started back up. Sure enough, they pressed the button for an elevator and brought us back up. We couldn't stop from laughing at oursleves knowing the security guys must have had a great laugh watching us dart across from elevator to elevator like a bunch of fools! This experience really cannot be said well through words, as being there was too hilarious to describe. :rotfl2: That was the first of many hilarious moments during our Vacation. And that was even before we got down to Florida!! :lmao:

after I check in and get the lugage in the room, I love to go the bathroom in WDW, I think somehow it even smells better :lmao: ;)

should we start a poll and see if your family agrees? :rotfl2:

loves disney .....
"We couldn't stop from laughing at oursleves knowing the security guys must have had a great laugh watching us dart across from elevator to elevator like a bunch of fools!".... i see an office party blooper reel in your future :rotfl2:

we have always driven down so the night before we leave we can't sleep and leave way earlier than we plan with a thermos of coffee. i love it when we can roll the windows down once we get out of the cold north and take off our winter jackets and feel the balmy air. we always stop at the fl welcome center just because it means we are in fl...when we finally drive through the wdw arch i get all teary eyed( i know sappy) and then after we check in we think we will rest but never do. sometimes we just look around our resort for a while then get dinner but we always manage to go to dtd first night( even last trip when we got there at 9:30pm and it closed at 10 :) ) normally we don't go to a park.then it's to bed, we actually are tired enough to sleep and we can relax as we are actually at WDW!!! yahooo! and get up at the crack of dawn the rest of the trip to get to the parks pre opening.

Our last trip down there started at 7pm the night before we arrived. Head to the airport for our red eye flight. Arrive 6am at MCO and take DME to our resort. Check in and went straight to room as it was ready for us. Drop the few carryons we had. Wash faces, get a bite to eat, jump on the bus for the park. Spend the entire crazy day running around the parks. Finish the evening with Fantasmic. Take bus back to resort and crash.
