Tell me your favorite and least favorite dishes (any ship, any meal)

I am amazed and excited they still have grand mariner chocolate souffle! I was just telling DS this was the best dessert I ever had...in 2003 and 04! I was hoping they still had it and hope they still have it in March of 16!

I had it on both legs of our B2B in September (it's not a chocolate one, however). The chocolate soufflé is in Palo

Well except for the Chocolate Soufflé and the Grand Marnier Soufflé (yummmmmmmm). I've also found that the "Sweet Temptations" is usually petty good. It's a sampling of 3 different desserts on the menu every night. Maybe because each one is little more than one or two bites, they just "seem" better?

My SIL ordered the Sweet Temptations every night and she liked them better than anyone liked most of the deserts so I started to get them too. Next cruise I'll start off with this. Keep forgetting to go to Cove Cafe for the sweets.

We asked our server what he recommended and it was usually pretty good, maybe not what we thought about ordering but the people that took his suggestions liked their dinner better than the ones that didn't.

Favs:
Black Truffles Pasta Purseittes
Belle's French Onion Soup, most of the soups actually
Bowl of fresh cut fruit at Cabana's in the morning
Sweet Temptations

Disliked by people in my group:
Lobster Mac and Cheese, they said it wasn't even as good as the boxed mac and cheese. Have they taken this off the menu yet? It seems to be universally disliked.
Coffee, but the last cruise was just before they switched to Joffrey Coffee.

The removed Popcorn Soup from the menu some time ago.

No the Lobster mac and cheese is still there , it is pretty dry, actually all the pasta dishes are pretty dry lately. That was my go too on other cruise but not of late.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is that? Do all of the MDRs use that menu? If so, on which night?
It's generally served only on longer cruises (like 7 nights and longer). It's usually the semi-formal night (last sea day). When it's served, yes, all MDRs serve it.

I just sailed with the Fantasy in December. Overall, I generally enjoyed the food. Of biggest note:

Really liked: Cabanas- in general- sampled many excellent steaks, loved the swordfish- get breakfast at Cabana's- kills breakfast at any of the sit down places. I loved the deserts in genreal myself almost always did "sweet tempations" so I could try 3 different things. I loved the soups- french onion, mushroom, bean soups- EAT AT PALO- all I'm going to say there- the Filet, Chocolate Souflee, the servers were awesome there. I generally enjoyed all of my meat dishes- steaks, roasts, the beef wellington was good

the things I mildly disliked - the mac and cheese with lobster- this was pretty much instant plain mac and cheese, with a handful of small & rubbery lobster meat pieces that probably came out of a bag, stitting on top of it. I was expecting at very least a real baked mac and cheese with a proper "crust" on the cheese but this was Kraft quality stuff. I've had real "lobster mac" in the past where the lobster was cooked into the cheese sauce giving an unforgettable and unique flavor throughout- big disappointment. Also, didn't much care for a lobster ravioli appetiser I had.

Notice a lobster theme going here? It seems many don't like the lobster on the cruise- save it for your local seafood place of choice.

On our last cruise, our server steered us away from the lobster ravioli immediately. It's panned so frequently, I'm surprised they still serve it.

Edited to say: Yeesh! I meant lobster mac & cheese. I've clearly watched the Friends episode where Joey keeps trying to order the lobster ravioli too many times.

Just got off the Fantasy....the WORST food was on deck - the burgers, pizza, etc. I think I've had better school cafeteria food. I wish Disney had fresh food stations on their ships the way other cruise lines do. I've always enjoyed those. The best thing I've eaten on a Disney cruise? Mickey Bars. :-)

I've gotten that impression about the pool-deck burgers very early on. From the UO guide, I think. I believe the phrase was something like 'suitable only for chlorine-addled children'.

We recently returned from our cruise on the Dream. It was our first, and after the reviews I had read, I wasn't expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised that I really enjoyed the food. We always found something on the buffet or dinner menu that we thought was better than average. I won't rave that it was the best food I've ever had in my life, but it was certainly better than I expected and quite good in most instances. Those burgers on the pool deck are serviceable, at best.

Oh, I keep meaning to ask what people think about the duck dishes. The significant other and I are big fans. (It's also reached the point, in my town at least, that duck breast costs less per pound than a decent cut of steak, so I've been cooking them a lot, but I do a very basic presentation.)

Also, I was surprised to see one of the dessert menus didn't appear to have anything with chocolate (I think it was whatever menu included the grand marnier soufflé.). I suppose my dessert tastes really are pretty basic, since the lack of chocolate made me sad. (I don't like orange in almost anything--I think I had too much orange-flavored baby aspirin as a kid--so the grand marnier soufflé doesn't appeal.)

That's unfortunate. We went on a Celebrity cruise in December, and the pool deck hamburgers on the ship were not only phenomenal, but some of the best hamburgers I've ever eaten (and I've had my fair share!). I don't think it would take too much effort for Disney to improve their deck food (change suppliers, more options, etc.), but I won't hold my breath. I did hear that some sailings have offered gyros at the pool deck eateries, however, which is a great idea!

The coffee is still bad, watered down with no flavor. The coffee at the Cove Cafe is fantastic. We went everyday, sometimes twice, and ordered espresso macchiatos.
The burgers on the pool deck were awful, I couldn't even eat it. It was so dry and reminded me of a hockey puck. I did read once we were back that the burgers from room service were good.

We thought most of the food was very good in the MDR. Every night when fish was on the menu I ordered it, since it is hard to get really good seafood where we live. I thought the seafood was very good. We loved, loved Remy's. I even thought it was better the the MDR at Victoria and Albert's, but not as good as the Queen Victoria Room.

I rather like the hamburgers served on deck... They are not the best burgers I ever had, but to me there was nothing wrong with them... The pizza on the other hand rarely was good. I loved the paninis on the Wonder, but on the Fantasy they were not nearly as good... While otherwise generally most food was noticeably better on the Fantasy than on the Wonder.

Oh, I keep meaning to ask what people think about the duck dishes.

I only had the duck confit appetizer - twice, because I forgot that I had it. It was ok, but not memorable. The meat was a bit tasteless.

The menu with the grand marnier souffle has a creme brulee which is my boyfriend's favourite DCL dessert. Maybe that woudl appeal to you?
