I've never done a "beach" vacation-- I love Disney or visiting cities. But Vero intrigues me. We're going to start a family soon and I know how much babies love the beach-- so I think when our future kids are under two, we may go to Vero instead of Disney. Sooooo, tell me why you love it! What is there to do? How is the ocean there? OK for swimming? Would it be fun for a young couple to bring a baby? Do you just "hang out" at the pool and on the beach, or are there activities?

TIA!

My children love Vero. Theare 7, 9 and 10.
The beach is small for whaI am used to, but still very nice and the ocean is great-can't beat that.
The activities at the resort are simple and basic but offfer a relaxing enjoyable great time with a bit of Disney magic thrown in. At both Vero and HH I would say the CM"s are very important. There is alot of interaction and they do a great job of organizing things for the kids.
There is also a pirate ship water play area for the younger kids. The pool is great and my boys like the minnie golf and bike rental.
The restaurants are great and the campfire is alot of fun. It is a great family place to just relax, enjoy the beach and the property. No hassles-no hustle!

Enjoy!

We love the laid back atmosphere of VB. My DS loves the fishing at the lake--not much of a challenge they seem to just hop on. But he has a great time. The no see ums can be bad over there, but they have a wonderful grill area and tables and it is wonderfully quiet there. Smetimes we were the only family there and that was in June. The campfires are enjoyed by the kids and they give you the mixings for the smores.

When we were there this June the resort was more crowded than we had ever seen it. We still never had trouble getting lounges at the pool or anything. But I think that more members are trying it out--I am sure once they have, it will bcome one of their favorites.

The rooms are large, not as big as OKW, but very nice. They have many activities for you, so you can be as busy as you want. You do have to drive aways for shopping. But it is not bad. There is an outlet mall near by (20 min) and another mall that has movies theater.

The pool area is wonderful, the kids love the slide. Also there is a nice kiddie area with a ship for the little kids. They also have their own mini golf that is free to members one day a week and just $5 I think for LOS.

The beach is nice, not too crowded. You can also rentjet skis there. it does get expensive to rent the beach chairs, so if you drive you may want to pack your own.

They are doing a lot of construction in Vero due to the 2 years of hurricanes. A lot of the orange and grapefruit orchards are being converted to subdivisions.

The new boardwalk to get to the beach is very nice. Much bigger and sturdier than the last. Hopefully this one will survive future hurricanes. There are many touches of disney there. I think they have a character breakfast at Shutters once or twice a week. We love the busy of WDW, but also love the relaxation of VB and HHI.

I think if you try it, you will love it.

For DH and I, Vero is the perfect place to relax. We usually stay 5 or 6 nights and seldom leave the resort. We stock up on groceries for breakfast and lunch when we arrive (and oj from Hales orchard). Others have had different experiences, but we've always enjoyed dinners at Shutters (usually the catch of the day or another fish entree).

We enjoy the beach -- swimming, walking, reading, snoozing. The pool is great, but we try to spend our time at the ocean. There are lots of activities for small children and the staff is excellent. The whole atmosphere is very relaxing.

Nothing is more peaceful than sitting on the deck of the cottages and watching the ocean. We love the beach and enjoy the cottages very much. It can be too peaceful sometimes but we only stay there for a few days and usually after the mad rush of WDW. It is a great way to have a good family time with quite a bit to do at the resort. We owned at OKW and added to VB when we realized that we wanted the 11 month option so we could get a cottage. There are only a few and you are not likely to get one at 7 months. It is again a magical disney place to stay and we really enjoy our time there.
