Trying to decide if it worth the extra money (and the loss of one day at WDW) to upgrade to CSR. Tell me everything I need to know, including bus transportation, pepper market, Casitas, etc. I read all the facts, now I need to know what you all think of it! THANKS!

I'd like to stay at CSR some day but not at the expense of giving up a whole day!! What's going on? Where are you currently booked? :confused3

Have you seen the Everything you ever wanted to know about CSR thread?

Be sure to check out the CSR thread! About the Pepper Market--it seems to be one of those love/hate type of places. I love it, but I don't mind the extra amount added on for the server to bring drinks and clear the table. Other people really do mind that. I prefer not to stay in the Casitas, but I love the Ranchos and Cabanas. DS10 loves the pool and we both love the really relaxed feeling of the resort. That said, it is very spread out and there are folks there on convention (not that this has ever been an issue for us, but, again, some people don't like seeing the folks in suits in the AM as they head off for conferences).

We're doing a split CSR/AKL stay in August. This will be my fourth time at CSR, and I can't wait to go back!

I like CSR, great pool, best Food Court. Really bummed that is booked already for Marathon. It was my first choice of Values, Moderates, offsite condos or DVC studios.

Because I get the best haircuts ever at the salon there! Seriously - I am trying to hold out until I arrive next week for a day - to get a haircut!!!

I do like POR, OKW, and BWV best, but every so often go to CSR. I like the fact that it's more convention oriented, so the busses are often empty.

It did take awhile to grow on me, but now I like wandering around the courtyards and fountains.

We loved the pool area, at CSR.
Bus service was great.
Only prob. for us, was the distance from the main pool, to the food court area. We chose to stay close to the pool, and since it closed early during our stay (May), we had no place close to fill our mugs. they ended up being a waste.

I would stay there again- no question

I am not a fan of the Pepper Market and the mandatory tip. I also didn't like the theming at CSR. But you can't go wrong with any of the moderates. You will have a great time.

Well we are debating between 6 nights at ASMo or POP for Approx $1600 with dining (this is a great deal for us because we like to have one sit down meal a day) or CSR for $1800 for 5 nights. I am not willing to jump up from the 6 nights at ASMo to 6 nights at CSR because it adds on $400. I would be willing though to go down to 5 nights and pay the additional $200 for CSR if it is worth it. I just have a hard time thinking that it is worth the additional $200 AND one less night at WDW. What do you think? It is just Dh, myself and 9 year old son.

Boy, that's a tough one! I guess if it were me, I'd do CSR, but, then, I'm not a big fan of the themeing (sp?) at the Value hotels, so I guess the pay-off for me would be worth it. I suppose it depends on whether that extra day in the parks or the moderate resort is more important. It's a tough call, but either way, you have at least five days at WDW and so you'll have a great time no matter what you decide!

I dont hate CS but it is my least favorite heres why

Themeing didnt sell me, all other resorts I love and I really buy into the theming but not there, It is pretty, I think the fact there are a LOT of conventioners running around in groups shouting on cell phones etc might have had something to do with it.

Pepper Market - Mixed vibe, food was good, probably the best food court on site, and I am a server so I had no problems with the tipping and am very forgiving of bad service, but OMG!!! The attitude there was unbelievable! it was the most UNDisney dining experience I have had. They were just rude, thoughtless, and clearly hated their jobs and anyone who wanted to eat there. Sending them some pixie dust :wizard:

We were in Cabanas and had a roon right above the quiet pool, when I walked out of the room I didnt feel like I was at a Disney Resort, I felt like I was in the EconoLodge in Orlando. It may have been the area we were in, I hear Casitas is pretty with fountains and nicer landscaping.

I loved all the other moderated though, POR, POFQ, CBR...all were wonderful!

we love everything about the resort. great food, great rooms and a great pool and play area for the kids. the busses are never crowded and the only time we waited in line for the pepper market was when the democratic convention was in town. I have never encountered a rude CM or any problems for that matter. If I had to do it over the past trip- I would of transferred over to the CSR and paid rack rate but our friends were staying at the Pop.

We stayed there two years ago. I liked the theming. Did not like the Pepper Market at all. We ate at the Maya Grill for the remainder of our stay after trying the Pepper Market. It's a very spread out resort. If it wasn't for how large it is, we would stay there again. It's just not our style.

I love CSR. The bus service is great! With the conventions going on, there's hardly anyone at the bus stop, so you never have to stay standing up.

Stayed there our first time last month, and we LOVED it!!! The bus service was great, very reliable and no long waits. The scenery and theming is fantastic. We had a great time at the pool, the water slide is FUN. Even DD loved the pool, and it was really the first time she'd been to one ever. Pepper Market had yummy food and it was quite convenient, and Maya Grill is a great restaurant. DH enjoyed doing the Searacers with DBIL. It is a spread out resort, but even after a long day at the parks we enjoyed the walk. Overall it was a very magical resort for us.

Hmm, this is a tough one. I am not a huge fan of the values but with only a 9 yr old, won't you be spending most of the day, if not all day at the parks??? It also looks like you like sit downs meals so you will be out and about for meals with the dining plan. For a vacation such as this, I wouldn't worry too much about upgrading a hotel.

My opinion - stay where you are (but I would pick POP), enjoy the extra day and the savings. Use the extra day to go to one of the fun waterparks which blows any moderate pool away anyway!!!! For the other $200 that would be used on CSR, I would rent a car for the week and get to and from parks quicker and when you want. This would also allow you to drive to some cool restaurants for dinner at other resorts and take a look around. Disney buses from resort to resort take a LONG time and for only being there 6 days, it is a waste of time management IMO waiting and waiting for buses, let alone Magical Express on the beginning and end of your trip.

But that is just me ;)

We had a similar dilemma in January and we chose Pop with MYW dining (when we originally really wanted to stay at CSR). We had a great trip with no regrets. We even visited CSR for lunch one day and a surrey bike ride around to check it out. With EMHs we really weren't in our room all that much, and for the time we were we enjoyed walking around Pop, it's a fun resort. Good luck in your decision. :wizard:

I really liked CSR. I think it is worth the extra money over the values. The pool area is great. I liked the food at Pepper Market, but didn't like the service. I was happier just getting the food to go and eating it in room.

Didn't like how the shuttle cart drivers drove carelessly around the resort. I emailed WDW about this and actually got a call from them today about my concerns. Not sure if anything would be done about it.

Other than that, I thought the resprt was beautiful. And we loved the hammocks to take a nap in.

Hate is a strong word. Let's just say it is not the resort for us. Our experience was not a positive one. Maybe it was the timing of our visit; I don't know. While I (we) have mellowed a bit; I think it will be a long time coming before I stay there again if ever. Other's have had great experiences. I wish we were among them; but unfortunately we weren't.

All I can say is this until you try something for yourself you will never know. Everyone's experience is unique to them. Some people have good ones, some have bad ones and others somewhere in the middle.

I am not going to tell you that just because my experience was a bad one that you shouldn't try it. If you can afford it and want to stay there give it a try. You may love it, like or hate it; that will depend on you.

As a married woman w/ no kids and none planned for the future, I love CSR because it's more adult-oriented than others. It's very quiet and every time I have stayed there I have encountered kids running around screaming and yelling. I love the theming: it's relaxing and not loud. I love the Pepper Market and the Maya Grill is good too.

I have nothing but nice things to say about this resort :)

We loved CSR. I liked the Pepper Market - it's a very good food court. I didn't mind the extra 10% at all for the service we got. Every CM was nice & helpful to us from the moment we checked in til the moment we checked out. The Dig Site was a fantastic pool. My DS was 12 when we stayed there & recreation was perfect for him with the Dig Site, arcades, bikes etc.... We were in Cabanas & found it very convienent. I love the Themeing - El Centro is spectacular. I found the amenities very similar to WL, making CSR sort of a "Deluxe Lite" resort. I had a nice AP rate & stayed there as a add-on to a stay at a deluxe concierge trip. I thought it a fantastic value & had no problems downgrading from the Deluxe Conc. we were at the previous 8 days.

However, as much as I love CSR & hate the value resorts, if I had to choose between CSR & gaining a day in WDW, it would be a tough choice. If you are going to be in the Parks all day & can handle a bit of noise (Values are very noisy in my experience) then pick the longer stay at a value. If you are planning to spend time at your resort or are a light sleeper (like me) - pick CSR. If you could have a garage sale, E-Bay some stuff, count change, whatever to earn the extra money to stay CSR, I would highly recommend it.
