Personally, I don't find them exhausting, but here are some ideas:
- Got to climb stairs to get to water slides.
- Got to swim or walk through the water, which is added resistance.
- Not wearing the most comfortable shoes ever, so the feet start hurting earlier in the day.
STAIRS.
Also there are Stairs, and lots of them to get up the slides. Sometimes you have to carry a big tube up with you.
Also, did I mention a lot of stairs?
I am intending to do half day park and half day water park. Never been to a water park before.
Why are some people saying water parks are exhausting?
Just liked to know your experience so I can better plan for mine.
Thanks!

Why are you overlooking the obvious impact of stairs on fatigue? You're doing the OP a disservice by omitting that very important fact.
The rest of your post is very informative, but the cover-up of the fact that there are lots of stairs one has to climb is very suspect.

We do water parks differently. They are our afternoon break, featuring lengthy time in the lazy rivers. Typhoon is more relaxing than Blizzard because there are less stairs. We pick a couple of tube rides, then spend the rest of the time in the river. Cools us off, then back to the parks. Usually a couple of hours is all we do each day.
It's all about the stairs. And then about carrying your tube. And then about being in the sun without a break from it. And swimming in the Wave Pool. And having sore feet since I don't normally spend that much time barefoot on cement. Listen - it's about your individual fitness level. If you are in good shape - it's fine. If you are a couch potato - you've been warned.
I LOVE Typhoon Lagoon - and it is possible to do a half day at a water park - have a break - and do a few hours in a park. But I would NOT plan a long park day before or after - maybe just 3-5 hours. Like - I wouldn't pay for a waterpark day and a park day on the same day. But I might do both if I had an annual pass and didn't feel the need to spend very long at the park.
Are you the one that wants to do MNSSHP after a half day at a water park? As a hard-ticket event - the best way to maximize your party ticket is to be at line-up before 4pm and dawdle out of the park at midnight. That's 8 hours in a park. That's not a half day at a park, by most folks definition. And at least for me on party days - I'm not taking a break for a sit-down meal and I'm not watching shows (like Philaharmonic or Tiki Room) - parties are ride after ride and standing in line for characters - so it's not a relaxing 8 hours for me.

Love this.
