OK, here is the deal, I will be 45 on Saturday! :woohoo: :woohoo: It seems like every year it rains on my Special Day... :confused3 well, they are calling for rain and cold temps for Saturday. It does not take alot to make me happy. Mom has already taking me out shopping for new clothes, and DH also gave me money to get some as well! (i need pants, etc. really bad, I have been living in sweatpants, none of my nice clothes do not fit me now, nor will they ever, my new pancreas sit's in my lower part of my tummy. No big deal, I just needed some new clothes! :goodvibes )

DH keeps telling me to book my trip to WDW, but due to continuing health problems, I have not been able to do so yet. I want to go real bad, but I kow I will get there.

I guess we will go out to dinner to celebrate!

Birthdays are special at our house, but we don't make a huge deal out of them. DH's birthday was Monday, and the four of us cooked steaks on the grill, ate cake and opened presents. It was really relaxing.

Last year on my birthday, I was in Paris with my mom. We toured the Louvre. It was a great day!

Most years we go out to dinner, and not much else for my birthday. As long as I am not cooking, I enjoy it.

Happy Birthday on Saturday.

Denae

We always have a family dinner. Aunts, uncles cousins, grandparents, etc. Plus most years mom cooks what we want on our birthday for dinner. Since I'm at school about 45 minutes away, and my birthday was on a Wednesday this year we had the family party the Saturday before, and then on my birthday my mom, sister and stepdad came up and took me to Bugaboo Creek for dinner. They were nice though and didn't tell the waiter it was my birthday; at Bugaboo if it's your birthday they make you kiss a stuffed animal moose. Definitely not for me. But we still got an awesome desert
Since my mom and stepdad's birthdays are in the summer we always have a big family cook out, and that's about it.

My birthday's Saturday as well :thumbsup2

I'll be spending it in the hospital, recovering from surgery. :cool1: :sad2: :sad2:

Usually we go out to dinner as a family then come back home for cake and presents for the adults. Allison since she is a kid still has a family party and a party with her friends. This year she will be having it at Enchanted Castle again. 3rd yr in a row.

January when my birthday rolls around I bet something different will be planned for me since it will be my 50th. :scared1:

at least I hope I am special enough to be thought of. for my 40th it was celebrated like it was nothing special.

which leads me to wonder. what age stands out for people where they think it is special.

for me I think 1st, 16th, 21st, 30th, 40th, 50th, 60th, so on. time for a poll? not sure how to make one. :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

:bday: Bob, now that does not sound like fun, I hope nothing serious! :grouphug:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KITTY AND BOB!!!

I hope you both have wonderful days...no matter what!

For my birthday, I usally take a day off work. My birthday is pretty close to July 4, so I try to plan my day off close to the holiday...more bang for my buck!!

Since DH and I really don't have any family nearby, we tend to make a pretty big deal of our birthdays for each other. Cards, presents, dinner. Our birthdays are part of our "quarterly" celebrations! :teeth:

For my DH's b-day we buy gifts, have cake, etc.....(just us four). For my b-day, nothing really, except we go out to dinner. I do tell my DH that the 'kitchen is closed' on my b-day!

This year for my DH's b-day, we'll be on the Magic for our first 7 day Disney cruise! :thumbsup2 Wonder if he could ever top that one for me?? :rotfl2:

BTW ~ Happy B-day to you!

Bob Slydell ~ hope all goes well!

We usually go out to dinner or DH makes a nice dinner for us and my parents and sister come over for cake....this year is a biggie for me though (30) so we're going to WDW!! Just found out there's a MNSSHP on my actual birthday (10/12) so I think we will be going to that....can't wait :)

Usually my husband takes us all out for a very nice dinner and we come home and have cake here with my grown kids.
This past birthday in October was a big one and I got to spend it at WDW.
My birthday dinner was at The California Grill! Now that was a fantastic Birthday!!!

Hope you have a great Birthday Kitty! :grouphug:

:bday: Kitty and Bob. :cake:
Hope the recovery is quick and easy for you, Bob.

Sat. is also DH's birthday. :sunny:
Birthday person here always get to pick the dinner place....DD will be joining us.
We will also go out to lunch and to a movie (weekend makes everything easier).
I think we are picking out new carpeting also :teeth:
And he will choose what kind of cake he gets, if he even wants one.
He likes to go through the tulip fields, but they aren't blooming yet this year, so we will do that in a couple of weeks.

Birthdays are a just another reason to party for us. Last year we had the whole family (both sides) over for a BBQ on my b-day (it was a bday/housewarming bbq). We had a big outdoor luau!! Complete with Tiki decorations and a hula-themed cake!! My bday is May 28th, which is always around Memorial Day weekend, so we usually do something.

This year is extra special because I'm turning 25 and Mark and I are going to start trying for our first baby!! How's that for a birthday present?

Come to think of it... Maybe dinner would be better than morning sickness.... :lmao:

I do two things to "spoil" myself on my birthday (or the next closest available day)

I buy myself a nice "expensive" lunch instead of packing one. I will go to Panera Bread (for example) and get a soup and sandwich and some fruity drink. The only time I will ever spend more than $12 on lunch.

And I thnk about what I really want for a couple of days and then go and get it for myself. In the past it has been perfume (Ralph Lareen Romance) or my I-pod Mini, something frivolous and totally just for me. Dh and I just give each other cards and chocolates since we are within a week of valentines day!

Not much. Usually dinner with the family, but it depends if my DH is working or not. And, I get a few gifts.

Kitty & Bob, hope you both have a Happy Birthday.

There is the UNbirthday Present Exchange going on now if anyone would like to join us. You can then recieve a present from a fellow DISer and give one to one as well. It should be alot of fun and a surprise.

I almost always take the day off from work, but this year my birthday falls on Saturday so I may end up working it, I don't know yet. I'm a waitress and weekends are the best tips so I kind of hate to give it up... but maybe I'll just switch a day with someone instead.

DH always takes me out to the restaurant of my choice, as I do him for his birthday in September.

Sometimes we go camping for my birthday. We were camping last year and he went to town and brought back a cake and ice cream, that was really special to me because he just usually doesn't even think about a cake!

My birthday is 12/26 so if I don't already have the day off from work, I take a vacation day, and DH takes me shopping to take advantage of some of the after christmas sales. Then we usually meet up with my parents and brother for dinner and birthday cake.

(to the tune of a song) Saturday is your birthday....ne ne ne ne ne ne ne It;s my birthday too yeah! :bday: I'll be 36. Hubby has a bowling b-day party planned for me. We never do a party. Just usually us and our son going to dinner and a movie. This time I have friends :goodvibes to help me celebrate. Will our b-day EVER fall on Easter? I think I will die before that happens (just something I've always hoped for).
