We love Epcot. We have been to Future World but never to World Showcase yet. On our June trip this year we are going to go to World Showcase. Would like to hear from you World Showcase experts as to what are the must see things there or what are your favorites? What restaurants do you recommend? It will be me, DH, DD7 and DD12. We will be staying at WL. What is the best way to get to World Showcase from there? Any help would be greatly appreciated! :flower:

My favorite country was the UK. They have the neatest shops and a Beatles tribute band. We ate at the Rose and Crown and really enjoyed it. Norway was a close second. Our DD enjoyed the trolls there.

You must go to France and see the movie. The music is wonderful and the scenery is beautiful. Besides, it's an air-conditioned, sit down movie. While in France, be sure to find the living statue (if she's out). It's AMAZING!

I agree, the Beatles band in the UK is a must see.:cool1: I think it's fun to just stroll around all of the countries, looking in the shops and eating a bite here and there. We usually don't do sitdowns here, except for in Japan at the Matsunoma Lounge. You really need to go slow and take your time in the WS or you will miss something. I love the Japan gift shop, I could shop in there for hours! Have fun!:earsgirl:

and went to Epcot World Showcase twice, I still didn't see everything I wanted to see but from all the things I did see, my favorite was Epcot China and Japan. If you like Japanese food, you definitely want to eat at Epcot Japan's restaurant, make sure you see the movie at China, and try to catch the Japanese drummers, they were awesome! I particularly was hoping to see Mulan but we never did unfortunately, we did see Mu-Shu though :earsboy:

Canada has a band, called Off Kilter....GREAT! So, try to see them. Also the rides in Mexico and Norway(?) are fun. All the shops are nice to go through. I have yet to do any of the movies though....this time for sure!

You must go to the Canada Pavillion and see Off Kilter! They are a Celtic Rock band and are amazing. Their shows are really fun and the music is excellent. I even bought one of their albums last trip and listen to it regularly.

I'm surprised that noone has mentioned American Adventure...with all the Audio-Animatronic figures!
We really enjoy that as well as the movies and rides in the other countries.

We just got back from our 1st trip (DH, DD7, DS7, and I) -- so we're not experts, just converts -- and we toured WS starting with Mexico at 11 AM and visited every one, ending with Canada at about 4 PM. Then we rode TT using our fastpasses (great fun!).

Your DD7, and probably your DD12, will LOVE making the masks at the kidcot stations at each country (our DD7 & DS7 loved loved loved it!!). We especially liked the little ride in Mexico, the viking boat ride in Norway, eating lunch in Italy, and the around-movie in Canada. Waited for the candy lady in Japan, but she never showed up (they finally called her and she was supposedly sick that day) -- She does receive rave reviews, so if she's there, guess worth checking out her candy creations. Have a great trip! :wizard:

My favorite thing is the O Canada film. There is so much beautiful country in Canada. I just love to see this every time I go to the World.

make sure your 7 year old gets a passport, your 12 year old might like it too, my 8 and almost 10 year old did. When you stop at all the countries, someone there will stamp the inside with a country stamp I believe and they write some other odds and ends in there too :earsboy:

No one's mentioned Morocco? That's my favorite country in the WS. It's absolutely beautiful and looks very authentic (or, uh, seems to). I hear the table service restaurant and the counter service restaurant are very good, too. We'll be trying one of them during our next trip.

Look for the candy lady in Japan. She makes little animals out of candy. Oh, and be in Germany at the top of the hour. China is gorgeous, too, and very peaceful. Just plan to spend a LOT of time in the WS. Take your time, look around, and really enjoy each country.

I'm sorry, but I'm a World Showcase.....JUNKIE!!!

I love ALL of the pavilions in the WS...I think they truly ALL have something wonderful to explore....

Oh, Canada...I LOVE the 30-foot hidden waterfall...the movie is pretty good... Off Kilter is NOT to be missed... the cheese soup in the restaurant is to die for..and Beaver Tails (if they're still there!).

England...the garden & maze back behind is pretty cool... British Invasion is certainly worth watching, if you're a Beatles fan...the World Showcase Players are funny...the Winnie-the-Pooh shop is fun...and the fish & chips? Yum!

France...the film here is TRULY outstanding; the music alone is awesome! We love to sample the wine at the wine shop; sniff the French perfumes at the French shop... and the guy who 'stacks' the chairs is amazing! And the pastry shop??? OMG...I salivate just thinking of it!

Morocco...the tilework here is truly beautiful...take some time and walk around the architecture and appreciate the beauty...the King of Morroco sent his OWN artisans to decorate this pavilion...! Mo-Rockin' is worth seeing...and the belly dancer at the restaurant, even the kids enjoyed!

Japan...I like the drums when they play; you can hear the vibrations in the pavement! The "Candy Lady" is fun, especially if your child is chosen to receive one of the creations...and the gardens are beautiful....get some of the Japanese snow cones while there...the baseball exhibit is a must for a baseball fan...

America...American Adventure is a "WOW!" moment; my kids were like, "How'd they do that?!" We also really liked listening to American Vybe and the other group, Voices of Liberty (?)....and DON'T miss the Fife & Drum Corp...they made us proud to be Americans!

Italy...it has beautiful artchitecture, which is a mirror of actually Italy; the shops are worth window-shopping (and spending, if you have the $$$), and the juggler is fun to watch!

China... the Hall of Prayers is very pretty...the film is okay (not as good as the other pavilions, but still fun to watch!); the shops there are fun to explore; the Acrobats are a not-to-be-missed attraction...

Germany...the miniature train is a must-see for train enthusiasts; don't miss the cuckoo clock (on even-numbered hours!); and have some German beer and celebrate with oompah music!

Norway - everyone comes here to ride "Maelstrom", but it also has a WONDERFUL bakery; inside the chapel, there's always an interesting exhibit; and the shops are fun (especially if you want to buy a troll!)

Mexico - I love the El Rio del Tiempo ride, and I love it always being 'night time' inside the temple; it smells SO good inside!; the Mariachi band is fun to listen to; and it's fun to see what is for sale in the "mercado" inside!

That's just a small sample of what the WS has to offer...Kids can be doing masks & getting their passports stamped at the Kidcot Stations...adults can be sampling the food and beverages (vino, anyone?!) at each of the countries....there's something for everyone!!!

And night time...??? SO, SO romantic! <sigh>

Thanks everyone for all your wonderful suggestions. I can't wait to be there. Princess Wannabe, thank you for such an extensive summary of World Showcase. I really appreciate everyone's input. :flower:

Here is a link from allearsnet which talks about all the different countries and gives you info on all the interesting things to see: http://www.allearsnet.com/tp/ep/e_mex.htm

(on the side under where it says "World Showcase", click on the links to the different countries to read more about each one)

I really recommend eating at Le Cellier and having pastries at the bakery in Norway and France. Also try the chocolate and gelato in Italy. :flower:
YUM

I loved France adn I didn't get to see the movie, but I did enjoy the bakery YUM and the chair guy

We ate dinner at La Patissierie (sp) in France, it's the counter service, I had a cheese plate (comes with grapes and a baguette) and a mousse, my son had a ham and cheese quiche and a napolean, my mom had a French turkey sandwich and a napolean...we all raved about how wonderful the food was. It was the best cheese I had ever had in my life. The coffee was great too. The deserts were to die for. My kids ate at the Libery Inn our first night there and they were chosen to be Jr Chefs of the day, a couple of cast members came up and asked if they'd like to do it. They made them chef hats decorated with their names, the date and the Liberty Inn. Then they dressed them in chef coats and took them backstage to make their own sundaes. They were announced and applauded as chefs of the day and were given "magical moment certificates" then they got to make their own sundaes. The CMs took lots of pictures which they said they'd email to me, but I'm still waiting. We loved world showcase but since we didn't get there til almost 2pm and we had gotten up at 2:30am to catch our flight we were wiped up by about 8pm. We rushed through some countries and didn't see it "all" because the kids were doing the kidcot thing and we wanted to get to Mexico by 7:30 for the grown ups to eat and get seats for Illuminations. That did work out very well for us. The food in Mexico was pretty good, but it seemed to take forever to get the food. El Rio de Tiempo was a great ride, lots of nostalgia for me since I lived in Mexico for a semester in college. Have a blast! :hyper2:

When I was there in January I was there with my son and GD who just didn't seem to get the WS and just wanted to rush through it. Don't make that mistake. I'm going solo in May and plan to spend at least three full days at Epcot.

Mexico: get a churro and margarita, listen to mariachi band, ride El Rio del Tiempo

Norway: ride Maelstrom, look at the Stave church and Akershus, get a picture with the giant troll and Viking ship, buy a troll and some of that wonderful perfume (Lalia?), eat school bread and rice cream from the bakery

China: movie, acrobats, enjoy the peacefulness, eat some Wonton Ribbons in a Bag at the Lotus Blossom Cafe

Germany; Look at the Steins and Cuckoo clocks, Biergarten, Snow White is out and about as are Pinochio and Gepetto, eat a Bratwurst & Kraut and a German chocolate cookie

Italy: architecture, Living Statue, eat a cannoli from Alfredo di Roma

American Adventure: movie, singers, eat funnel cakes

Japan: the candy maker is fantastic, Japanese drummers, eat Kaki Gori (like a snow cone but better, finer ice)

Morocco: Belly dancer, Mo' Rockin, Alladin & Jasmine, eat Lamb Shawami and Baklava from Tangierine Cafe

France: eat a peach tart (or anything else) from Boulangerie Patisserie, movie, Beauty and Beast spent alot of time with my GD here, as did Cinderella

United Kingdom: British Invasion, Pooh & Eyeore, garden/maze, eat Fish & Chips

Canada: LE CELLIER, LE CELLIER, cheese soup at LE CELLIER, 30' hidden waterfall, LE CELLIER, Off Kilter, LE CELLIER, totem pole, LE CELLIER, movie, (Oh, did I mention Le Cellier for their cheese soup and steaks :rolleyes) and finally pine for the departed Beaver Tails which unfortunately are no more :sad1:

Have fun!!

And in addition to LE CELLIER, your DD7 might enjoy the mask making at Kidcot stations in each country. I personally love all the films, especially the one in France.
