We're taking DD's boyfriend..Jarrod...with us next trip and I have to have a room that sleeps five. I had originally planned on staying at WL...but in order to sleep five there, I have to get the junior suite. I am just not going to pay that much. If a code comes out, then I'll just book two rooms at the WL.

Anyway, we're going to book a garden view at the Polynesian. Are we going to be disappointed. I just can't imagine loving anything as much as I loved the WL. That sounds crazy because Poly had always been my dream resort. I'm going to request the Rarotonga longhouse. I guess that's close to the GCH? If you have any suggestions on another longhouse close the the GCH, fill me in...because I'm clueless.

Can you get a view of the main pool with a garden view?

yes, the pool views are garden views. We love the Poly, hopefully you will too! Google: tikiman polynesian, he has a web site devoted to the Poly! Happy reading!

Angela Kay,

I feel the same way about the Polynesian as you do the WL. Wheather you have a good time or your disappointed depends on you. It would be difficult for me to stay somewhere other than the Poly. I would roll my eyes a lot, shake my head in disgust for an hour. Then I would get with the program. Normally, my wife gives me something with Rum in it to speed up the process. (Did you know Rum gave Daniel Boone eyes like an eagle and a nose like a beagle?) Anyway, my favorite garden view longhouses are Samoa (volcano pool side) and Fiji (marine side). Both have great views and are very close to the GCH. Samoa it between the volcano pool and the quiet pool. Fiji is between Luau cove and the marina. I know it will be difficult for you in a lush tropical atmosphere with O'hana, Kona, the beach watching Wishes and the Electrical Water Pageant, Luaus, tiki torches everywhere you walk, Hawaiian music to stroll by, and Mai Tai's... :)

I stayed in Rarotonga last August and had GV. I was on the 3rd floor 1st room closest to the GCH. There was a big tree in front of our balcony which was nice. I like the location a lot. It is close to the bus stop, not far from the pools and right next door to the GCH.

noseybuddy,
Sorry this is off topic but I was just wondering what this picture is of. It looks like an aquarium you can walk under. This will be my first time at disney and I haven't heard of an aquarium like this. If it is at disney can you tell me where? Thanks!

We love the Poly, but can't promise you will, too. People have very different experiences and expectations...

We stayed in Rarotonga last summer and loved it! We had a beautiful 1st floor garden view room facing the quiet pool. We were just steps away from the GCH and the bus stop, and a "short" walk from the TTC. If you would like a view of the Volcano pool, you can request Samoa, which is also very centrally located, or Fiji, which is a little further removed. Specify that you want to face to main pool, because all rooms in those longhouses are in the garden view category.

Aloha!

We love the Poly! The quiet, the convenience, the view, the smaller size of the resort. We've adventured to the Contemporary, WL, GF, Beach Club, AKLodge in past years for short vacations. We always come back to the Poly for our longer stays.

I'm thinking now about Tokelau. Is the daybed about the same size as a twin bed? I called the resort directly and they told me it does pull out to make it a bit larger than it looks in the pics.

We stayed at the Poly this past spring. It was our first time there. I loved the place as did the kiddos. The best staff, great themeing, Ohana's is cool and their foodcourt albiet small, works well to grab a late night snack. Plus its on the monorail, you can't beat that. Send a coconut post card home to grandma, she'll love it.

Aloha!

It depends on what pool view you want. Samoa is our favorite. We always request 3rd floor (which has a balcony) facing the Volcano Pool (the other side faces the quiet pool). Samoa is close to the GCH, Volcano pool, quiet pool and Capt. Cooks.
Tokelau is nice too but only half of it faces a pool (quiet pool). They're both considered garden view so you need to be a little specific with a request.

The daybed (at least in Samoa) is pretty standard. I thought it looked a tiny bit smaller than a twin but it definately would be fine to sleep in.
The Poly is a fun place to stay. Enjoy!
