Tell me the "weather" where you live.

I went up to Minneapolis to see my friends one year in July. I asked them what the metal sticks (about 3 ft long) were on the fire hydrants. They said that's so they can find them in the Winter.

Also the first place I saw support braces on the legs of the big highway signs. Apparently the snow plows were throwing snow at them and knocking them down.

Here's a little one, but the big ones have it too. I've since seen this out West too

All our trees have been covered in ice for two days now and we have not been above freezing during that time here in the Central Tx area. Snow is in the forecast tonight and tomorrow. Brrr.

@team bradfield,

You have been getting the brunt of it. Down here, we keep just getting the edge of the snow with less than an inch at a time. We have been getting a number of "surprise" snows where nothing is forecast and you end up with a 1/2 to an inch. Tomorrow night it looks like we are finally going to get more than a heavy dusting.

Well last night we go a glazing of ice over everything. It is supposed to warm to 39 degrees today. Have a couple of things to do, so that would be nice. Tomorrow and into Tuesday forecast is for 1/2 inch of ice and up to 6 inches of snow. Hoping they cancel work early for Tuesday.

-1 this morning and sunny. All the way up to 4 now and it isn't going to go much higher. They upped the snow prediction a little. Now they are saying 4-6 by Tomorrow night.

It was 40 here in Atlanta when I ran this morning at 9:30. Actually only supposed to reach 44 so won’t get much warmer. It is cloudy and wet. My run was not so bad though no wind.

31 here in MS, that's noon temp. WAY off from normal. Pretty much gonna be our high for the day.

Saw a few flurries this morning. Local markets are being overrun. Snowpocolypse is on its way.

By our standards anyway. You northerners sit back. You're in for a treat! :rotfl2:

High of 1; low of negative 2 with up to an inch of snow.

There is a hawk, that we've noticed since we moved in April last year, that always hangs around in one particular tree. The last few days, three hawks have been chilling in the tree. The hawk does not appear amused with this cold. It's been sitting there all morning.

La Grange, Tx is iced over.My steps were solid ice & Missy had to go our twice so far today. Went very slow down my steps. Temp now is 27 but feels like18. I walked out few minutes ago to check the propane & light show flurries. High Monday 28 low of 10. As RidewithChrist is correct, this is not Central Texas weather this time of year. Normally nice & comfortable. Be safe & protect your fur babies.

Well this escalated quickly. This morning it was 3-6 by Tuesday am. We are close to the dividing line between 6-8 and 8-12.

And it made it all the way up to 8 degrees today.

Well you'll be surprised to know they are predicting single digits and couple inches of snow here in Chicago area.... again.... for the umteenth time in the past 30 days.
Problem is it's usually not quite enough to snow blow, but just enough to mess up the driveway and screw up traffic.
Forecast is for temps in the mid 30's this weekend.
I can only hope

The show in deep south is starting up! Anywhere from 1-6" of snow, 0.25-0.75" of freezing rain expected. There is no toilet paper, bread, or milk to be found!

Cruising neighborhood this evening seems like most folks are working on their redneck mud trucks for fun tomorrow. I've brought my old 71 model LTD hood out of storage for an ATV sled. Poor thing hasn't seen daylight in 10 years!

We still have the bitter cold, but it looks as thought we will be spared, a bit, from the brunt of Uri. They really aren't talking about any snow up here at all. For those of you right in the path - stay safe!

tiggerdad,

I'm only about 100 miles northeast of you and we are expecting similar weather issues the next two days.

As the dad of the house, I offered to head to the grocery store (and slug it out with all the delinquent college students still searching for Valentine's gifts/cards/balloons/flowers) for those "Must Haves" items in case the snow-ma-geddon comes to our neck of the woods. Here's what I came home with.

DD22 could only think as far as her morning coffee fix. She's not thinking that if the power goes out, her Keurig coffee maker won't function. But this was #1 on her list:

.

At least if her coffee is cold, it will taste good. :coffee:

Another suggestion from someone else was more practical - food that needed no refridgeration.

For myself, I'm ready should the big one come. I'll be selling it "by the square" and when the snow/ice melts I'll be on Park Place ready to pass Go!

This too shall blow over.

Good find Ed!

Let DD know I have my Coleman stoves (yes, two. One is quite old from my early teens when camping on the Sipsey River in northern Tuscaloosa County that runs on coleman fuel, and another more modern one that runs on the green 1# propane bottles), and to go with them is my dads old coffee percolator that he always used when we were camping on those same Coleman stoves. Makes a mean cup of Joe.

We're settled in. I've prepared everything for us and neighbors. Camper is taken care of, dogs have the heatlamp in doghouse but likely tomorrow I'll move them to the garage in case we lose power.

Everyone be safe.

So you got all supplied up. Just curious how your son is doing in the frozen tundra of the North. Probably the most snow he has seen in his life this year ?
