Tell me something I don't know about SSR

Here's something you don't know about SSR. I just bought my first DVC points there. Card came in the mail today. My kids and I are SO excited!!!!

The whole theme of the place is the race tracks in NY. I love horses so it was fun to see all the references to horses. It is the only place I know of on Disney property where the horse is honored. I love the lobby tv room where there are portraits of Disney's famous horses. See if you can name them all.

The bronze statue outside the lobby is a lifesize replica of a horse and the jockey's name is Yen Sid.

The main is great and has all the bells and whistles. But one of the other pools is fun and set up like a starting gate and race track with lanes for swimming. Kind of fun for a different twist on the horse theme.

when i was there in May, they brought out Bingo stuff and had bingo by the main pool for any kids ages 1-99!!! :) And the prizes were little stuffed animals or DVD's and such! Very cute! :goodvibes

Treat yourself to a meal at the Turf Club. It's a real gem that doesn't get enough praise online.

There are tennis courts and shuffleboard courts near the DVC sales center. If it's not terribly hot out, you can check out gear from the community hall.

There's a horseshoe pitch near the bus stop in the Grandstand section.

Don't forget the boat. It makes a nice change to take the boat over to Downtown Disney. Or take it over to the Treehouse section to have a look around.

The staff at Community Hall is WONDERFUL! My kids stopped in there while we were waiting for DME to take us back ....well the kind lady made nice bags of beads, necklaces, bracelets and keychains for each of my three kids so they'd have an activity for on the plane! Good thing too! Our flight was delayed two hours and the beads filled the time nicely at the airport!
