Ok, I'm getting a little worried about flying into Orlando with a tropical storm in the area. Can someone calm my fears :guilty: . How will our flight be? How does the airport handle these things? Will we know in advance if we can't land? We land at 9:25 on Friday morning.

Thanks :umbrella:

Anna

If it's dangerous your flight will be delayed or cancelled.

There is no way to know 50-something hours before you land if the weather conditions will be OK.

Tropical storms generally dump a lot of rain in an area but winds are not terribly strong. Just keep checking the forecast and check with your airline before you leave home Friday morning to make sure there are no delays or cacellations.

Good luck!

We did some storm-dodging once into Orlando. I have a hunch that the air controllers and pilots there are extremely good (if not the best) at managing storms -- they've had a lot of practice.

Just noticed you're landing in the A.M. Generally, if I'm not mistakin', the normal weather pattern is for the storms to kick up in the afternoon.

I think tropical storm 12 will be passed by then and on it's way to Mexico. Don't worry be

I just watched the 10 o'clock news and that is what they said.

go to www.weatherunderground.com and look up Orlando. This is a very accurate weather site.

We're also flying into Orlando Friday morning. We leave JFK at 8 am(knock on wood).
I am starting to get stressed, but am trying to not be crazy about it.
If it hits it should hit waaaay south of Orlando..and even then shouldn't be *too* bad. Hopefully not even a hurricane.
They are just forecasting the regular scattered thunderstorms for Orlando on Friday.
I told DH if we knew the flight was canceled by Thursday eveing I'd jump in the car and drive down. LOL But of course you wouldn't know that far in advance.
I am planning on arriving safely in Orlando a little before 11 on Friday morning and that's final! ;)

While it will be over Florida on Friday, I'd say don't worry.
It's going to "hit" South FLA according to the weather guys at this time, but things do change, just keep your eyes open and don't worry about it. They know what they're doing ;)

There is a large margin of error for where this storm can go. Just keep an eye on the weather and the website for your airline. I will be trying to fly out of MCO on Friday. You just have to watch and wait.

I just received a hurricane tracking chart from my local Dept of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness. It looks like it will be crossing the tip of FL early Fri monring, then heading to the Gulf of Mexico. Landfall in the Gulf of Mexico would be Monday AM. Should not affect Orlando until Sat morning, and then it would already be out to sea in the Gulf, so Orlando would only get some heavy rain.

It looks like it will hit around Pensacola again, then crossing over SE Alabama, NW Georgia, western NC and into south central VA.

Looks like it will only get to minimal hurricane status while over the Gulf.

I'd say your plane should be safe at this point.

We're headed out of Albany and arriving in Orlando at 12:30pm on friday too. Guess I'll pack my umbrella and poncho.

Don't worry! It's always good to have the morning flight like you have, that way they have all day to get you there! Most likely you won't experience any major delay, but just in case, make sure to bring extra stuff to do and some snacks in the fat chance you could be diverted or delayed a bit. Relax, go with the flow, make it fun and enjoy your vacation!

5pm update is on my news now... it is defintaly heading to FLA...they are still saying South Fla but the cone is showing up to the Orlando area.... anything can happen...... so just watch it carefully. Spirit Airlines has lifted all penatly fee's for my local airport.... RSW (Ft Myers)....

The only thing I would be concerned about is that it's going to "hit" south florida, but the second nastiest part of a hurricane is the north east quadrant of it. That is where everything whips around and tornadoes come out of. All and all, after all 4 of them last year, this should be nothing.

There is still a wide margin of error with this storm. Everyone needs to keep an eye on it.

I had no idea there was a storm comming I dont really watch the weather  We are landing at 11:20 on Friday I hope everything goes well!!
