Tell me more about Wal Mart....

Generally Target is only 10-20 cents more on items and the products last a LOT longer. Shopping at Wal-mart isn't cheap when you have to keep replacing the things that break.

Oh man I haven't read the whole thread but this was funny!!!

So you are saying something fisher price makes will last longer if bought from target rather than walmart??

Those energizer batteries I buy from walmart must be the bad ones because the target ones last longer??

Man I can't believe the amount of holes my hanes socks get from walmart as opposed to the ones from target...

Good- Prices are really good and there is usually plenty of inventory. We buy all our groceries there as well as most toiletries, paper products, pet supplies, cleaning supplies and baby items. Yes, sometimes certain items are cheaper at other stores when they have sales, but you usually still come out ahead at Wal-Mart. I just don't have time to go to 10 different stores every week, and Wal-Mart consistently comes out ahead for my total shopping bill.
Don't forget that Wal-Mart has a company policy to price match all competitor's prices. You just have to tell them you want to match the other store’s sales price and Wal-Mart will sell you the same item(s) at the other store's sale price(s).

The handful of times I've attempted to shop at WalMart I've had to leave. There was merchandise in all the aisles and it was difficult to navigate. The only thing I've ever purchased there was a fishermans license holder for my WDW roomkey/ticket & money. :) Works like a charm.

I love Wal-Mart. I love Target too :) I'm not trashy, uneducated and I have all my teeth.

The only Wal-Mart in the Richmond area that I won't go into again is the one over on Forest Hill Ave. It is nasty. Suprisingly the nicest Target in the Richmond area is right down the street. I'm waiting to see how long that lasts.

The pickings of some cd's can be lousy (I'm still on the hunt for the new Michael Buble) since some clerks have never heard of some of the artists. Good luck finding some dvd's too

Oh goody a Wal-Mart thread. Where to start?
The last time (and I mean last time) I went to one:

1) I bought my son underware. Not a problem you say? I get it home and it has no fly. I do not expect to buy underwear for a boy that has no fly and does not even bother to tell you on the package. Now I have to face the RETURN :scared1:

2) I take the flyless undies back to the store and after facing numerous embarrassing questions (leave those to your imaginations), I remembered a few other items I had forgotten on my previous shopping trip. I go to leave, with my receipt in my hand......

3) Some old woman with a nasty disposition practically tackles me as I am exiting. I did not set off any alarms (been there, done that), so I had no clue why I was being descended upon. She grabs the receipt from my hand and starts looking it over. I point out that I did pay for the cans of soda at the bottom of the cart, she shook her head :sad2: that wasn't it.....

4) Finally in a shrilly and loud voice, she screams it's the vitamins. Takes my receipt and writes something down. Does not appologize or tell me what the problem was. I came home embarrassed and emailed the manager of the store......

5) She said they used to put chips in their vitamins. I said "hold it right there. I did not buy Walmart vitamins, I bought One A Days." She then said, "I don't have any idea why you were stopped. That brand does not have any chips at all in their packaging"......

6) And "I just had an employee meeting about how to handle customers. We do not embarrass or harrass our customers", she said.

7) Wrong, lady they do :furious:

I'm neither a Huge Fan of Wal-Mart nor a Wal-Mart Hater. I'm more Wal-Mart, Eh. It's ok. I go there when I have to, because, face it, some of their prices can't be beat, especially on paper goods and school supplies. I think what I hate most about Wal-Mart is the fact that I've never been able to make a "quick trip" there, it's always an ordeal! Oh, and their meat and produce departments are totally unimpressive to me.

I do most of my shopping at Publix. Publix has something Wal-Mart never seems to have: sales! Often, Publix's buy one get one free deals beat the heck out of Wal-Marts "everyday low prices". Add some coupons to the mix and you can really save! And the time saved is a great thing, too, and the unfailingly great customer service.

I hate Wal-Mart. The last time I went there a man was actually bleeding ALL OVER his groceries on the belt. The woman in line behind him kept saying, " Sir, I think you seem to be bleeding. Do you want a tissue?" he kept wiping it off with his hand and saying he wasn't bleeding. It was literally dripping all over his stuff. Not only disgusting, but a health hazard. I see a lot a creepy people in our Wal-Mart and so I rather go to target. Cleaner, short lines, comparable prices, better selection.

I love Publix's Buy one Get one Free sales. I am always excited to go in there and see what they have on special that week. Yes, I have no life... :teeth:

How does this make Wal-Mart a bad store? Was it Wal-Mart's fault that he chose to shop there? I am a department manager in an upscale grocery store in our town, you would not believe some of the rude, nasty looking customers and screaming, bratty kids we have in our store. Does that make us a bad store? Is Wal-Mart supposed to screen their customers before they let them enter the store?

I do a lot of my shopping at our Super Wal-Mart, the prices are much better then any of the other store in our area. My store has butchers on staff but the meat at Wal-Mart is much better, most of the people in our town would agree with me. My dad used to work for a Wal-Mart in Texas after he retired, prior to that he was the CEO of a large company, he just worked at Wal-Mart assembling bikes etc. because he really enjoyed it. He is in no way SUB-HUMAN! People who judge people based on where they work are very narrow minded!

I think they upkeep is bad on them... because ours just go updated to a SuperCenter and it's an amazing difference. I don't think it was really dirty or anything. They also always have 9238470913248129034 registers, and only 3 open. :) Since we got the SuperCenter, I have fallen in love with it. I go there for everything. I even get my perscriptions there. Well I don't buy my clothes there, but if I had kids I might. I wouldn't suggest getting your car fixed their. My mom has always had major problems. Like once we took it in to get the headlight changed, we were there for 5 hours waiting for it. They couldn't figure out how to get the bulb out. I called my boyfriend and he told me, took a whole 2 minutes maybe.

What I really like is their customer service. You can return ANYTHING there. It can be opened, ruined, whatever, you can return it. The only problem with that is they put it right back on the shelf. Like my uncle bought a laptop there, and it wouldn't turn on. So he returned it, and they gave him a new one. A few weeks later some guy calls him and is like "I just bought your laptop from Wal-Mart." Of course my uncle didn't erase anything, cuz he thought it was gonna be sent back to the factory or something, but all his info was still on there.

If we were to get a Target here, I would do my everyday shopping at Target, and most of my grocery shopping at Wal-Mart.

The bleeding incident was not the first time I have seen something that me uncomfortable. The fact is that our store is not clean, and the clientele can be very "creepy" for lack of a better word, especially at night.

A friend of mine with 2 young children was shopping there in the afternoon. As she was putting the children in the car ( An Escalade) she got the feeling that there were people behind her. She got them in quick and got in the drivers seat. As she's climbing in the car, a young male and a few friends start telling her that they noticed her 'ride" and was she interested in some Bose speakers that were "hot." This type of thing makes me nervous. I have not seen or heard of an incident like this in the nearby Target parking lot or store.

In my opinion, our Wal-mart is not a place I like to shop.

And yes, it IS Wal-Mart's fault as they should have security people patroling the parking lots and refuse to check out some bleeding all over the place. the cashier refused to check him out, the manager came and said it was no big deal and did it. yuck.

No they are not supposed the screen the customers, of course not. But I think they should refuse to let someone contaminate the checkout.

Our Wal-Mart does have security people riding around in little carts in the parking lot and we don't even have a crime problem in our area. If I go late at night, one usually follows me to my car when I leave.

I can say happily that the people at Wal-Mart are generally nice, I've never seen anyone bleed while in the store and the store is scrubbed from top to bottom every night. I still prefer Target because their stock is much nicer and their groceries are better but Wal-Mart is fine with me.
