I just had a cleaning done and this question popped into my head.

Anyone?

Actually, I love my dentist and love getting my teeth cleaned because they feel so great afterwards. I've gone to her for over 15 years and have had the same hygienist (who I also love) for about that long as well.

Other than fillings and a couple of wisdom teeth removed I've never had a major dental problem. :)

I look forward to the dentist too!
I can almost fall asleep laying back in those big comfortable chairs!

No, I don't. I have to go today to get my stitches out from my wisdom teeth removal last week and I know they're gonna be mean to me (I think one of the areas is abscessed. I'll probably get yelled at for not coming in earlier or atleast calling.

A regular cleaning is ok, I love how my teeth feel afterwards, but I hate the torture they put me through (they ALWAYS do and OOPS! and get my gums instead of my teeth. ).

I hate the way the drilling smells when they fill a tooth.

I wouldn't go a far as saying I look forward to going but I don't mind going to the dentist.

I dont count the days until I go either, but it is relaxing and enjoyable when Im there. My hygenist is nice(sometimes too talkative), and I love how my teeth feel when they are getting cleaned. Even when they hurt fromt he picking, its a good kind of hurt. Ive never had a cavity or any other problem so if I had, my opinion might be changed.

Me!!! :p

I love visiting my dentist twice a year! He looks like Jimmy Buffet, plays beach/calypso type music in his office and he has a great sense of humor and a has lots of stories to tell! I love going to the dentist! :bounce: :bounce:

I used to when I was dating him.

Nowadays..eh. I could take it or leave it. ;)

I like my dentist, he's really nice. Kinda looks like Groucho Marks. He is great with kids too! My DD doesn't mind going to him at all, which is good in not having her be afraid to go!

Wow, I didn't expect so many. :teeth:

I cracked a molar on popcorn 2 years ago. When the dentist was checking it out I just couldn't stand it!! Anyone else probably would have been fine. I actually reached up and grabbed his wrist :earseek:

My hygenist talks way too much it takes her 45 minutes to do a cleaning so now when I make an appt I aske for the dentist to do it. and I restain myself from grabbing his arm

Actually, I was talking to DH about this last week. I enjoy it when I don't have cavities to be filled like did last week. I do wish insuracnce would pay to have your teeth cleaned every three months instead of every 6 months. I enjoy it so much but that's just because our dentist gives us the laughing gas so we all go to the dentist to relax and fall asleep. Our dentist was thinking of employing someone to come in to give you a pedicure while you're having your teeth cleaned. That would be so cool!

browneyes- I think you must have gone to the person who cut out my wisdom teeth. He was so RUDE to me! He yelled at me because I got a dry socket and I didn't come in sooner for him to handle it. I couldn't help it that it was over a weekend and he wasn't even in his office. Then he goes to look at it and I can only open my mouth just a hair and he RIPS my jaw open which I swear made it even worse. It hurt sooooo bad. He was really mean to me :(

I like the dentist but hate going. Last time I went he said I needed a cap, Ok, he is a fast talking and so good looking I said ok.when I got the permenant cap is was the same yellow I want for my bedroom walls, i went back, he said yees it was to yellow. I was curious why is Gods name did he glue it if he thought that. OK so Off it came and a new temp. now I am bleaching my teach, not to white just whiter then they are at 45 so when that is dont I will get the new cap. :D

Ive never had a cavity or any other problem

Ok CamColt,it's official,I hate you ;) How can you never have a had a cavity? That's unnatural. As for me,yes,I HATE going to the dentist. My teeth are SUPER sensitive and a cleaning can almost bring me to tears.I've had numerous cavities, pullings when I was younger and one cap.The cap was it for me.He says I need more but I refuse to get them.I was literally crying all during the last fitting it was so painful. My dentist is very nice(same guy I've had for years)and he wouldn't even look at me during that fitting he felt so bad.

My kids are better than me about going. My oldest DS doesn't care one way or another, but my youngest DS isn't thrilled with it.He had a lot of major tooth problems when he was little so it's taken a lot to get over that.

LOL, patfan! :) When I had my first DS and the doctor was giving me stitches she gave me a shot first and told me it was like a novacaine you get at the dentist. I was like "Ive never had one!!!"
But dont hate me too much. I probably could have used braces since my teeth arent the straightest, I just never got them.

Pain medicines don't do much for me, I have a very high tolerance or something. One time the dentist shot me 7 times with novacain or whatever they use. I could still feel the sharp pain, but he told me if he gave me anymore I would have a numb mouth for a month.

I cracked a back molar at Christmas. It didn't bother me and I let it go. I think I'd rather walk on hot coals than go to the dentist! :( Anyway, I am now in some serious discomfort at the moment. Not the tooth though...the jaw bone underneath the whole right side of my mouth! I broke down today and called the dentist. I have an appointment on Thursday. I hope it's just a simple extraction. I am defintely NOT looking forward to this! Please send some serious dental pixie dust!:bounce:

He didn't yell at me too much. Just told me to come in anytime I felt I needed to see him (told me about 3-4 times it would be free of charge:p ). He apologized for hurting me and he wasn't hurting me at the time. The one time he hit an extremely sore area and I almost jumped off that chair thing and he heard me scream "OOOOOOUUUUUUCCCCHHHH", and I had to restrain myself from punching him, he didn't apologize.;) Just laughed at me and said "Looks like I found a sensitive area, didn't I":p.

I've heard dry sockets hurt like the dickens! How's the 7 fillings healing, Princess_Aurora?:)

Laurie, I take it you like going to the dentist.:)

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Um, no shannon, I do not. :)
