Tell me if this acceptable

I can see both sides. We wil be traveling with four kids and a grandma and grandpa in our group of 12. The terminal itself is fun and seeing the ship, the model, watching movies are all things I believe the kids should be able to experience. Maybe if we have four or so adults saving the line while the rest enjoy the the terminal, andhave them join us as we head thru the ears mgith be more acceptable. On the other hand they are my in-laws so part of me says..." see you at topsiders!"

I guess I just see a big difference between two adults standing in line, suddenly joined by another 10 people near boarding time vs. a group who arrives together, gets in line together, the kids drop their backpacks and a few of the adults stand there with a whole mess of stuff while the kids are off exploring the port with another adult. BTW, we have been fairly close to the front of the line with LOTS of families around us on all of our cruises and I can't remember a time when I've seen kids fighting and getting into trouble in line, even when they are among the first to be in line.

If you did the former is it something that would cause me to become angry and start to yell? No, it wouldn't... it's sure not worth that. But I would shake my head, think you were incredibly rude and wonder what the world was coming to. Whenever I saw you on the ship I'd identify you in my head as "those rude people who cut the line." You asked what people thought, not whether you'd get lynched doing it. :)

I think there's a difference between 12 people ariving early and 2 people standing in line for the 12 than 2 people arriving early and standing lin line for the 12, the point being all 12 people are there early. There's no reason all 12 people should stand in line and people behind you will have no problem with that, but they will probably have a problem with 2 people holding space for 10 people coming late. With 12 people, you'll have carry-on luggage for 12 people in line holding space. When I traveled last year with 10 of us, there were 4 adults and 6 kids. The kids were over watching videos while 2 of the adults stood in line and the other 2 adults walked around and kept an eye on the kids. Nobody had a problem because they knew we were all there before them and the line was probably much more enjoyable without 6 noisy kids fussing and complaining for 2 hours.

As someone stated earlier, people probably won't get mad if people show up just before the line moves and pick up their carryon items. What will honk people off is people comming later and dropping off their carry on items.

On the otherhand if you are in the "maze" (which really does not hold that many families), you will be sitting in line because you will be there for 1 1/2 hours (maybe more). Since you are sitting, you will be taking up much more room than standing, and the additional carryon luggage can be dropped off (taking about the same amount of space), those people go wandering around and everyone shows up just before boarding. Just don't have everyone show up with their carryons just before boarding.

Good luck with your choice.
